Someone needs to tap them on the shoulder and remind them of one of our commandments - Thou Shall love others as you do yourself. My God owns the judgement seat, not me.

That's often the problem... no love for oneself, and therefore, no love for others.

See here's the thing. No one has more love for another than they do themselves. Do you check your reflection in the morning? Do you care about how you look? Do you check your face halfway through the day to make sure you are still presentable? Do you pick clothing that will flatter you? Do you brush your teeth so your breath is fresh? Do you comb your hair so it is in order? Most people don't recognize this behavior. In an accident, do you check yourself first, or do you dash out and see if anyone else is hurt?

Oh I could on and on but if you study human behavior, self love is the biggest love. You may not be happy with your LIFE, or your decisions, but you make sure YOU are lookin good. Just a thought.

Well, I'd call most of those things you described, self-absorption, and not necessarily love. There are lots of judgements in decisions about "do I look good, is this flattering, do I have fresh breath, etc" Not saying we shouldn't take care of our bodies. I'm talking about the judgements that are made. And I'm not really good as expressing this stuff... however, I feel most people are not aware they are in continual judgement about themselves that they just carry those judgements over to others and there's no real love available, either for themselves or for others. I will only be able to give, from my "bank account", what I have actually put into it. How can I accept others, in peace, if I do not accept myself and my own life - whatever it may be?

This isn't my thread, but I don't think you're buttin in!

I totally agree with you that people don't realize they are judging!!!! But the day to day stuff we do for ourselves really does show self love. Which leads me to look at the looney bin that comes into my office for a bus pass with just a little more tolerance than the everyday person.

I think that judging an individuals personal religious choice is also wrong, and a cause for alot of discomfort. If you see a person, and you have things in common, what do their beliefs really have to do with your relationship with that person? For an instance, I am Christian, and Barkerchickens is pagan. Nonetheless, we are on our way to really great friendship. Mostly through BYC too! Because I may disagree with someones views does not mean they cannot be my friend, and it does not mean I think any less of them either.

I think I rambled....

Aw thanks!!! I do my best to stay judgement free, however, I am known for speaking rather bluntly.
