I wish more people were understanding and open-minded!

I think many people would be surprised at how many similarities there are between paganism and christianity (beyond the bible, of course)...especially with so many of the holidays and traditions (mostly due to the history, but that is a whole different topic). Plus, we were raised christian and our families are christian, so while we celebrate Yule, we also do christmas with our families. But, since we have learned our path on our own (well, and my upbringing, which was definitely not focused in any one religion) and don't know of others in the area, we don't do any of the rituals, etc. I guess we keep it basic and simple with our spiritual beliefs and prayer.

He has his moments!

He really is a warm and tender person (he can be quite emotional/sensitive too

), he just takes time to warm up to people.

I think he keeps his walls up until he feels safe enough that he won't be judged (which I blame on his upbringing).

Thanks, Feathersnuggles!!

I'll tackle this one.

Mr Saddi's family is aware that I was a pagan the day we met, he announced it to his mother as a "selling point" seriously! "She's not a catholic so no worries about creepy priests Ma!" (This was during a period of a few months where several churches had priests arrested, and it was all over the news, the man lacks tact). His sister is quite christian (of the holier than thou sort), but as I explained to her, the boys are raised with respect for all paths, and once they are old enough to understand the choices, they can pick thier own path.

My family is ultra consertive, and well, we don't talk about it. Like other private matters such as politics, childrearing, and such, well frankly if I would not discuss lovemaking with a person, I would not discuss my faith with them either. My rule for the boys is simple. I'm thier mother, you will not try to circumvent or undermine my position as thier mother, and if you do, you will no longer have access to them. My mom did not see her grandsons for two years after she tried to circumvent me on a few choice matters. My kids, my rules, you don't like it, fine, you still don't get a vote.

Good advice for dealing with people really locked into "their way or the highway" mentality.

I have inlaws that cause trouble because my wife and I do not do things "their way". The key for me is to not feel angered by their offensive and intruding comments. I try to feel nothing, or even have sympathetic caring thoughts twords them. So far after 16 years of dealing with them it is the best way I have found to get back being centered and at peace the quickest.

For others that try and get nosy.. "Well it is a private matter..Thank you for your concern about our well being". Let them wonder..

Just a random cool thing that happened to me last night:

My bff Katherine and I were at Chevey's for dinner and as I started talking to her about my path, our waitress shows up and she totally had a Goddess Symbol on her wrist! I complimented her on it and she was so thrilled I new what it was. Here's a goddess symbol for those of you who don't know:

Ok, I want to jump on this thread. I don't know if I consider myself a Pagan per se, how about reformed Christian. I am a student of astrology, steward of the Earth, lover of all living things, the one animals come to when they are hurt and a darn fine cook. Does that count?????
