Barker Chickens, I think it is because you are in Calif. I think Calif folks have learned to be more open minded than other parts of the country.

I'm in Bible-Belt. You mention pagan,or wicca or witchcraft, you may just have a cross burning on your front lawn that evening with the guys in sheets. Over in the town of Linclonton, NC they shut down the "Witches Brew" coffee house. They didn't open it on a back alley when it wouldn't be see but right behind the court house on the back side of the town square. Out in the open. Windows broken. Customers threatened. Vendors intimidated. They were forced to close down.

Out on Highway 74, just outside of Lowell, NC is one of those signs that tells about which "group" is cleaning up that part of the highway. Well, this one particular sign keeps getting knocked down. The group I think is called the Moon shadow Wiccan and Pagan Social Network. Something like that. Within a week of the sign going up. Someone knocks it down.

Lately I have been able to find a few more books if I look over in the big stores in Charlotte. Barnes and Noble, and such. But other than that, I have to buy online.

I'm here with a bunch of my friends just dressing up and freaking out the locals and we're mainly just partying 24/7 (woo) so I'll probably have a cold or something by the time it's all finished. Oh well, I'm having the time of my life! Just took a two hour nap now it's back to the hotel lobby to meet more nerds. We also have a spirituality panel at 5pm that I'm going to go check out. Also, just bought a beautiful little simple wand from one of the venders in the Dealer's room that totally spoke to me, best $5 spent in my life. Commissioned some art, and will go raving at the dances ever night. Woo!

As for amount of pagan books at bookstores, my Borders definitely has at least 10 shelf's of pagan books. Though I hate that in the middle of their Wicca section there's a bunch of Satanic books. I'm like, hello? Don't even believe in Satan. Lol. Ah well ignorance is bliss.

Now back to running amuck! I'll try to check in again tomorrow.

a few years ago in my local book store you would see plenty of books on pagan stuff. but ours are kept right with the self help and the A D&D stuff. not that i mind seeing the A D&D stuff but my mom already has a good collection of self help and she hardly reads them.

does anyone else use crystals to help them focus and get to sleep? i'm just curious if anyone else has had issues with amethyst causing headaches during full moons? i've read that can happen since the moon's power it at it's strongest. when i read that a few years ago i locked up my crystals and nearly forgot about them. will i need to cleanse and reprogram them since they had been stored away for so long?

the last two nights i've left them out beside my bed and i've been having clearer dreams/visions but i thought it might be good to clean them and i'm wondering if this is a good idea. also, any recommendations on cleaning them while it is winter in our area. i have a brook behind my house but since i have to go over a hill to get down to it this time of year it might not be a good idea to attempt it.

On the Amethyst: I have gotten Headaches with amethyst before, but have a much worse time with Hematite... It grounds me soo much i feel sick..

I have used many different techniques to clean my stones.. I recommend Moon/Sun Light.. Also sea salt and water work well... I have in a pinch especailly with my healing stones run them under a tap and let the flowing water run over them to clean them.. Sage smoke works well. If you havent used them in awhile and really want a super charge you can do a full ritual were you reconsecrate all your magical items at the same time, using all five elements.. Water for Water, Incense for Air, Smoke for Fire , Salt for Earth and White candle or anointing oil for Spirit... I love ritual and it helps soo much with raising energy that I prefer that method..
Remember that ALL things come from the Earth so they are all Hers to command.. I have used a pencil for a wand and a toothpick for a dagger.. This was how many witches survived the Enquistion as they used items already found in all homes to work there Magic​

i'm waiting for my dh to ask me why all of a sudden the crystals have come back out again. i will admit it, i haven't had much time or been feeling a whole lot of energy to think about them. i want to help get myself motivated again and this is a helpful start! and i always felt having them around helped me to sleep better. since they've been locked up i haven't felt them give off their energy as much.

i'll have to remember to use the sage sometime. i'll need to get a good supply growing in the yard along with all my other herbs too! we've only owned our house for two years now and i still haven't figured out how i want to partition off the yard for growing areas. the only thing i have a good supply of is mints and weeds (or chicken treats if you want to call them that)
