Yep those big fly's take big bites! On lake Superior and around other Northwoods lakes, what gets me is when in the canoe and the black flies start to chew on you.. before you know it you have little drops of blood running down your legs and no where to escape...

I follow the Westernized Sufism. The school of the Fourth Way. If youare interested in learning more about it I would HIGHLY recommend any of the books by P.D. Ouspensky, You can find some of the books by him on the Scribd website, or if you have a good book store they should have them either in the New Age area or in the Philosophy section.
Thanks for the welcome!

I hate to ask for myself but....

As some of you know I was in an accident in Jan, and have been losing the ability to walk. The leg simply isn't healing, and now I find out that we may have done more damage delaying surgery (long and short I have bare-bones HMO and they took a month delay on every stinking referal). The last week even getting up and using my wheelchair has been utterly exhausting. I'm trying to keep positive, but it's a struggle.

Kinda off-topic, but I wanted to ask on this thread because my question needs a pagan viewpoint, so here goes:

I like to cross stitch. I like the charts that feature gardens & flowers and maybe a few words. Anyhow I came across a chart called "Home is where my garden is". That kinda sums me up nicely. I liked the artwork but I didn't really look all that closely at the little sayings before I bought it. I ordered all the thread and the right size aida, and made myself a copy of the chart to work from so I wouldn't damage the original. That's when I really took a good look at it and discovered there are things on it that make me uncomfortable. It features a "Gardening Angel" which I suddenly realized was a take-off of "Guardian Angel." Then I noticed the "Garden of Weedin'" was actually a play on "Garden of Eden" and for the first time I saw the "Hands to Work Hearts to God" which hadn't been real easy to read in the original photo. And realized I could NOT make this chart.

But I still very much like the artwork. I thought about it a bit and came up with new wording for each of the things that bothered me. "Gardening Angel" became "Garden Witch" and the Hands-Heart saying became "A Witch's Work is Never Done," while the "Garden of Weedin' " became "My Magick Garden". I did not change the "Plant a garden, feed a soul" 'cause I really feel that way about gardening.

End of problem, right? Nope. Now I am wondering if it is ethical of me to change someone else's chart like this? Obviously this chart was designed by a very Christian lady. Do I have the right to alter her work this way? It is not a kit, just a chart. But it is her design, not mine.

In my own defense I have to say that I have looked for pagan charts and all I ever find are the Halloween witches-type or ones for a specific goddess, but not this sort of chart at all.

I'd really like some help deciding this, which is why I figured my fellow pagans were the ones to ask.

Thanks for your help with this!

Rusty

Rusty Hills, I feel that if you were selling your product made off of pattern that you altered it would be unethical. Actually, unless she states it's ok, it's unethical to sell the product at all, altered or not. However, if the finished product is a gift, or is for yourself, then I see nothing wrong with altering it. You paid her for her time by buying the pattern. Let us see pics when you are done!
