Official stud-book PMI-TN for Pavo Muticus Imperator

Hello,

here a short information about the actual situation. The breeding season is over and finally I was able to breed two imperator chicks. Unfortunately the two year old males were not fertilizing this year. The hens were laying many eggs but I had only two fertilized eggs.

Finally the first milestone is done. The first chicks with in the stud-book are bred. In the meantime a send feather sample for DNA sexing and the result is I got two hens.

Regards
Reinhold

I will come back soon with some pictures. Up to now I didn't find time to make good pictures.

The pups are slowly changing adult roosters.
The animals are now in the middle of the moult, at the neck of the rooster you can see very well which feathers are already changed. The dull gray-green feathers are not changed yet.

Beautiful peafowl and pens! Is that bamboo in there? My spalding male is also molting and it is cool that you can see the new feathers versus the old dull ones. How are the two imperator hens from this year's hatch?

This is the first hatched hen under the control of the studbook.
On the pictures she is exact 99 days old.
Both hens are growing well.

I already commented on this on the UPA forum but I also wanted to say I just love your aviaries. I need to get grass growing in mine again. None came up this year in the pen. I think it is because of soil quality, too many birds grazing it, etc.

My pen still has grass, and with only three birds I hope it will last! However, along the fence there is a worn down path...

Those peahens are beautiful! That is great that the studbook has officially started with their births, and at such a young age they already exhibit so much coloring and all!
