Official stud-book PMI-TN for Pavo Muticus Imperator

Head and face details of the imported Imperator males from Thailand. In the face you can see that the yellow mark of the males in the third year is in general smaller compared to the males in the second year.
The males on the first three pics are in the third year form pic 4 the males are in the second year.
The crest length is not importuned because on the pictures they are in moult and will change within the next weeks.

Wing covers of imported Imperator males. It is very good to see how much the blue wing covers are changing between the second and the third year.
The blue color is much lighter and has more brightness in the third year. In the second year you can see the blue covers but the color is darker and brightness is not so intensive.

They are all so beautiful! I can see slight differences in each of them, but how do you tell them apart? Now that Peep is getting older he is starting to look almost just like Alto. I noticed Peep has darker legs, a lighter colored neck, and a different colored beak. Also the inside of his mouth is pink instead of a purple-grey like Alto's. What do you look for to tell them all apart?

I wonder what causes this?

Does the Yellow Cont to fade as they get older? And does diet play a role in how Yellow the Yellow is?
Based on my observations the following things are having an impact to the yellow mark and the light blue areas:
- Diet is one thing, but all my animals are getting absolute the same diet and when you look on the pictures of the hens and the males they are not having all the same color.
- Sunlight, to compensate the it in winter time I have installed bird lamps with UVwhich are on approx. 13 hours per day.
- Season, I could see that the yellow is getting more light when the hens are laying eggs.
- Stress, during the matting period the males are having more stress and this will have an influence too.
I could see, that the hens which are leading chicks are having a lighter yellow to.
- General condition of the animal and I expect some genetic issues too.
The age is no issue when the birds are adult.

The actual face color can change based on all this issues. To determine a sub-species based on the face color is nonsense. These are the experiences which I made with my birds.

Yesterday we had an amazing sunny winter day. I used the beautiful day to make some small videos from my imported imperators which are now coming in the third year.
Here you can find the videos:
