Oh Craigslist, You Amuse Me So!

Best CL reply I have had (so far) I recently posted an add for 12 bunnies, weaned, with a detailed listing of the breeds, how my rabbits are raised and socialized with my kids (even though they are not oets for us, someone else may want them as pets). Guy calls me today and says he wants 2 trios of Newzealand Whites. These were not on my list. I politely informed him that I did not have NZs available at this time, but would have in about 4 weeks, as my NZ doe dropped about 10 days ago. He became irate, stsating that my add said I had rabbits for meat or pets and the only meat rabbits are NZ Whites. At this point, I was torn between laughing at him and bleesing him out. I told him mine are mixed rabbits because I gt a higher mear ratio by crossing my san juans to rexes and that way I can use the pelts as well. He totally flipped! He could not understand that I would use the fur as well as the meat and (very irately) informed me that I was going to "HAY-ELL" for using animal fur for anything. At this point I completely lost it and laughed 'til I was in tears and contimued laughing after he hung up. What the heck is the difference if I'm going to eat the rabbit, why shouldn't I use the whole animal????

That is too funny! If you were going to kill it anyway, why not use the fur? Some people. I get being mad about the fur industry (I once saw a video of an animal STILL ALIVE after being skinned just tossed into the trash to slowly die) but if it's dead anyway, what's it need the fur for?

^^^^^^true! We use every part of any animal we kill. My dog eats the bones, we eat the meat, and my husband tans the hides! That is what God intended us to do with his animals, not just kill them for the fun of it. That made me laugh to!
X2 - We deer hunt, and do our best to waste as little as possible.

By the way, I'm very interested in learning to tan the hides for use. I've found so much info online, but all the instructions are so varied, I'm not sure which one to use. If it's not too much trouble, would you mind PM-ing me with instructions for how your husband does it?
Thank you in advance!

Adorable ducklings free to good home...just born in the last few days! Will be ready to go in two weeks. They are part mallard, part runner duck, part cayuga. All those breeds are good layers. Great for pets or laying. Twelve are available for placement, but you must take at least two (as ducks need companions). Also, you must have a pond or stream for them to play/bathe in. They are not sexed (can't tell for about a month). We are a little over an hour from the Cap. District.

First of all, Why will the ducklings not be ready until 2 more weeks? Do they need to wean them from the mother? LOL Also, I love how they state you MUST have a pond or stream for them to bathe in. Soooo every single person that owns ducks also has a pond or stream? This is news to me!

I saw this one too! I wonder if they mean they'll be staying with mom for two more weeks? So they don't need a light once they go.

Maybe, even still though, anyone taking a duckling a day old or two weeks old should know the proper care for it. I just live the pond part really lol
