Well I decided a cpl weeks ago I want chickens. Only 4 or 5 egg layers. I then scoured the internet for info, found this forum. And now what have I done? I have silkie eggs coming from Magikchick, Possible lavender ameraucana eggs from chickenstalker, and I bought some golden comet eggs off ebay as it says they are great egg layers. My reasoning for having 2 dozen eggs coming is I dunno what the hatch rate will be since I am a beginner plus I will be giving the roos away or selling them on craigslist. But I have this feeling I am going to end up with 10+ chickens. LOL hubby doesn't know what he is in for.

AH, HUH!! We all start out that way!!! I started with just a modest flock of 12 buff orpingtons. That grew to like 60 or so of many, many breeds. Now, I am back to just barred rocks and Ameracaunas, with a few "pet bantams" in the mix! You will become hooked and it is a wonderful thing!! Don't fight it, just let it happen naturally! LOL.............................. Welcome to chicken madness!! IT'S GREAT!!

LOL, you caught the bug faster than most! My DH is fortunate that I am limited by the size of our backyard and city ordinances, as to how many I can have....

lol i started with one goose and now i have over 40 birds, with about 10+ eggs in the incubator....just wait, you will probably want some ducks soon after you get your chickens...lol

I started out with 3 2 hens and a rooster. Now I have a 12 X 28 by 6' tall chicken coop with 8 acers and 40 + chickens with some in the incubator. My wife didn't realy want this since our 5 boys have all left home and started there lives. But now she bought the incubator and I can't stop her but its fun............
