OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Hello all! Does anyone know if it is illegal to kill/eat our chickens here? This is only for family use. It is legal to keep them?

Hello Where are you located. I live in West Salem Ohio and we raise and cull our own birds. Except this time we will be taking to a processor not wanting to deal with the mess this late in the year since they won't be ready for another 10 weeks. What kind are you wanting to raise.

I need someone in Central Ohio to process 2 turkeys and a couple of roosters. Anyone know a processor that handles poultry or know someone who will process period?

Plucky Poultry Processing in Utica. If you google search them you can find
their phone number. I don't think they have a web site, but
I know they do small backyard farm processing for a reasonable price.
Let us know about your experience if you use them. I'm
interested in raising some turkeys and broilers next year.

I'd second Plucky's--used them for the first time last month with my dd's 'leftover' fair meaties--made the appointment a couple of weeks in advance, took them over and in less than 45 minutes they had completely processed 12 (8) week old broilers, bagged and ready to go. They charged $2 a bird, then >25cents each for the bag and I had half of them cut into 4 pieces, plus necks removed and bagged separately (for stock later)..total was around $30. Can't remember for sure the cost for turkeys but I think $5...good luck.

Does anyone have a good phone number for Plucky Poultry? (Just PM it to me)

One number I found isn't right and the other 2 go to a voicemail box that "has not been set up". How can you run a business and not have voicemail?
