Delcochix, where are you located? I am between sunbury and croton, would love to get together with someone to learn and see more of how things are done with chickens. I have just had them for 2 months. Thanks

i think its sinus too. i believe yours started in the eye. that's why i gave you treatments instead of just saying put her down. the penicillin will do more for you than the aureomycin (i think), be careful of over medication. any time i say use tylan penicillin will probably work, i just prefer the tylan. it seems to work quicker, and it seems there is less resistance to it. penicillin i believe is a lot cheaper though. if i remember right a bottle of penicillin is about $8 where tylan is a little over $30.Thank you for your input! Thought you might have some wisdom in the area. I have Tylan but had someone else look at it and think it's sinus. I started giving her penicillin shots this morning and have been treating her with an opthamalogical gel as well as Aureomycin crumbles in her food. Going to lance her tonight as we are not getting much out from her actual lids. Guessing there is a hard disk in there. And a hard drink or two waiting for me after I get this done. Ugh.
Trying my best not to have to put her down. If Hubs sees what I've spent on meds he might put me down!
pure bread ameraucanas do not exist, they are a cross of aracauna and an any American breed. people sell what they call pure aracauna's in multiple colors, most are showable. a true aracauna is tailess.Hey Ohio people, thought I'd say Hi. We're located south of Columbus, in northern Pickaway County.
As long as people are getting rid of cockerels--we have several to choose from. At least one red EE, and several white Leghorn/Marans crosses. We probably also have a Tetra Tint or two (RIR X white Leghorn). All except the EE are just old enough to start seeing that they are boys. The EE is probably eight weeks old. Free to anyone who wants some (even for eating). They are scheduled to be culled on Thursday evening, 6/20/13.
There's no one out there with purebred Ameraucanas, is there? I'm also looking for a RIR cockerel or two.

there are some breeders around who offer the tailed variety in black, lavender, silver, blue, chocolate, and several other colors. i only have black myself, supposed to have lavender on the way. mine are still to young to lay, but if you cant find what your looking for; i might have some next spring in those 2 colors.
