OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Ok- this is my first time posting on here! I am curious as to if there was a Facebook page or poultry selling/swapping in central Ohio? I live east of Columbus right outside of Newark, Ohio. Anyone close!? I'm looking to buy a few silkie hens and I want a pretty rooster! (Not silkie) for my golden comets hens :)

Firstly, I apologize for putting this pic on but it's the best way to see what's going on.

This is the same pullet as in my avatar picture. Came on really quickly and the swelling is getting worse. There is some nasal discharge as well as a cough/sneeze.

Any ideas on what this is and treatment would be appreciated. I currently have her on Aureomycin crumbles, Vetrx in her nostrils and apple cider vinegar in her water.

Thank you in advance for your help!!!

Hi Clark 2390. I am new to chickens but have been on here and doing a lot of reading for a year. I live between sunbury and croton/Johnstown. I do not have any silkies. I have 24 chickens but do not know if any are roosters yet.

if your birds are on the ground you may also want to look up eye worm. once i have ruled it out. I give tylan 200 injectable 1/4 cc one time a day for 3 days (some say up to 5). I do separate any birds showing symptoms like this for 4 weeks. I have never noticed the same bird having it twice. I also clean the eye as much as I can. I typically don't see more than 3 birds like this a year. I sometimes wonder if its the bedding, looking at your pen we use the same thing, medium pine flakes.
some people say to cull the birds because it is incurable. others say it is curable, its a decision you will have to make.

I have noticed, barred rock chicks have that white spot on top of their heads, if the spot is a solid spot of white = female if it is more like speckles = male. this has worked one hundred percent for me.

I have a mutt rooster who is beautiful. I'm in liberty township, Ohio. I don't know how far away it is. He is black and a bantam. He is part silkie but doesn't look it except for the black skin tone.I have pictures of him with my white silkie in my profile. We have been trying to figure out what to do with him since he just can't seem to get along with any of our younger cockerels.
