The silkie does look kinda blue huh. Maybe one or both was split to blue. I'm not sure how that works. Anywho.
Darn the miles! Little squirt got out again today. Not easy to get back when she doesn't want to be caught! She might find herself a bite-sized snack for my mastiff. =x

Nope, no split to blue. The roo is just a very dark blue. If you look at him from behind and the fluff on his legs and hind end you can see it. Oh well. I'll at least get some black chicks!

see the color difference between the two. I thought he was just badly sunburnt.

Oh wow! That's about the darkest blue I've seen. He had me fooled. Does that mean roughly half black and half blue chicks? I need to read up on dominant colors since I have 5 or 6 different silkie colors..

I know, huh? Basically he had some issues with BYC staff who don't know a good thing when they see it. None of my business to say more than that. He left his email a page or two back though so we can keep in contact with him.

My one little quail egg hatched today! (He pipped early yesterday morning but didn't do anything for 30+ hours. Had me worried! I was about to go help when I heard cheeping and he was out in a flash!) Insignificant I know to those that hatch dozens or hundreds, but he's my first quail and SO CUTE! Teeny tiny!! Due Saturday are 2 cornish bantams, 1 black silkie, 2 BBS AM bantams, and 4 (/5? one looks like a double yolker) showgirls! And 13 more quail eggs due Sunday. So this little guy will be my buddy for awhile until he has more of his own kind. Did I mention he's teeny tiny? LOL.

Yes, it should produce half blue and half black. I'm hoping these next two that hatch are black.

Yeah it's hard to eat something so cute but when that start eating you out of house and home, they start to look mighty tasty.
