Yes 'Chickawawa we are quite close. I am halfway between Piqua and Troy but have a Troy addy.Yay! Someone near me!!! We are only a couple miles north of Miami County but have a Sidney address.
Sorry, no advice with the hatching but I'd love to hear how it turns out. Thought one of my SPPRs was going broody but with the weather we've had and no extra room right now I made sure to keep taking her eggs.

I was just about to move to NE Ohio since they have such a thriving chicken community there! Glad to see some "neighbors" show up! In fact, we went a little south of you (Moraine) to get our Speckled Sussex rooster a few weeks ago.
We live in Rockbridge in the Hocking Hills. We just got 13 Barred Rock/Red Pullets a few weeks ago! Go Bucks!
Not sure what happened! Fed the chickens this am everything was fine. Went out @ noon to check on Mary my broody, she is fine. One of my buckeyes is dead!!!! She was fine earlier. She free ranged yesterday afternoon and was fine when I put them in last night. Not a mark on her. She is almost a year old
A total mystery. My first loss.
Sorry to hear that! That first loss is rough. I'm a newbie at this and our losses have come from predation so can't offer much in the way of help but you might find it helpful to search here. Good luck! Hope the rest of your flock is okay. Not sure what happened! Fed the chickens this am everything was fine. Went out @ noon to check on Mary my broody, she is fine.
