OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

They are addicting. So Welcome Aboard! lol My DH brought home 4 Golden Comets and now we are up to 46 lol I have only 6 that are laying right now, 6 that should be soon. 1 month old chicks, 2 week old chicks and hopefully some on the 21st.

So far out of all ours, the Easter Eggers are the most socialable and fun! They jump over the fence and follow you around. They let the kids pet them too.

So sweet! MY DH thinks I'm hilarious! I've been raving about chickens since October last year and we finally decided to get some in May as my mother's day gift. I placed my order through MyPetChicken for the chicks I have arriving soon and I've been researching all kinds of coops for him to build. I think we are going to build the recycled pallet one that is featured on BYC this week. It looks like it will house up to 10 comfortably (even more - wink wink.) I only live on a little less than an acre, so I don't think I could house more than that without my immediate neighbors getting angry. Right now, they are looking forward to getting fresh eggs from their neighbor, (wink wink) so I have their consent. I don't even have the chicks yet and I'm already addicted and looking at other breeds that I want. I can't wait for them to arrive! I'm hoping that since I'm getting them as chicks and I can have the kiddos handle them every so often carefully, they will be more sociable. I read up on the breeds I ordered a lot on their temperament, egg laying ability and hardiness to cold. So excited. Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!!

Haha. Mine tried, or tries. I ignore and carry on. Making excuses or little white lies works well. My cap was 25 and right now I'm up to probably 50 with all of my chicks. Not to mention the 10 new ones coming next week and the eggs I am planning on ordering. But I am planning to thin down. Especially my little mitt chicks i started with. I have all the layers I want, except a choc egg layer. The rest are for breeding and all more rare breeds.

The list just keeps getting longer and longer. Lol I finally cut mine down a lot and only have 4 more I need. Well, for now.

Oh my goodness. I don't know if I could even handle that many and my toddlers. But who knows maybe this time next year I'll be at 25+ with an even longer list of more that I want. LOL

gold neck d'uccle? I bought some porcelain d'uccle eggs and this one hatched. I know they also own some gold necks. They didn't think they mixed any gold neck eggs in but I'm just wanting to make sure that's what this is before I decide what to do with it.

I'm not real sure. I do know there is a $10 set up fee. I thought about taking some of my 10 ccl boys and maybe a couple of girls. Guess I will have to try getting up early and going out there.
