I cover the sides of my runs in plastic, but left the roof open, they went outside everyday last winter.

I need some planning ideas for coops. I have all my chickens mixed right now. There are 6 Roosters right now (2 I know I need to get rid of down the line just not ready to yet) I have it in my mind right now I want at least 7 (2 aren't big enough and one hasn't hatched yet if i does lol)

I was thinking of giving each guy 3-8 hens depending which breed it is and what I already have. I want them all to be friends though is the problem I am having. I also need a idea who to build a nice coop for them. I am not a builder but I have been looking and not really finding what I have in my head. Is it best to have poultry netting for the bottom and a perch above that for sleeping? I see a lot of plans that have wood floors. Any ideas would be great. Right now I have 24 big chickens in one coop, and 15 that are growing like weeds beside them.

:D about to go to the post office to get my ccl girls. Only 7 hatched so she gave me some female olive Eggers too. I will post pictures shortly

Fair warning, of no one is interested in a BLRW roo, they are going to the butcher in a month. I've only got 1 I'm going to keep, the other 5 are going.

make a wood frame 3 feet wide and 2 1/2 foot tall. make it 2 feet long for each chicken you plan on putting into it. a sheet of roofing metal lays 3 feet wide, so just buy the length you need. the best deal i have found on metal is at murphin ridge lumber off of wheat ridge. they have an economy grade for about 30 cents a foot less than other places.

these measurements are for large fowl. bantams you can put 1 per foot. make them something like the pens i have in front of my barn, only longer.

Bath day for a couple of babies who decided to get dirty somehow in their brooder. Plus the new babies.
