OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

My first thought was Dorking because of the short legs, but the colors look a little off and I've never seen or heard of one with such a luscious tail lol. Is he LF or bantam? Could also have some Japanese or Serama in there if he's a bantam? I'm not sure what other breeds carry the creeper gene. Whatever he is, he's beautiful. :)
Hes a bantam and she is also.

Oh, anyone ever had a 6 week old cockerel crow? I have and it's HILARIOUS! I've never had one crow that young. Heck, he still peeps. No real chicken noises other than the sad attempt at crowing. If he does it again I'm going to take video of it. He's so proud of himself. It's the CCL cockerel I hatched here.

My first rooster was a little OEGB that tried the most pathetic little crows at 5 or 6 weeks old. I would lay on the bed in the room opposite the brooder and giggle while I recorded audio clips of him. So cute.

Ahh, there we go. My bet would be Japanese bantam then, or some mix of it. :)

Went out and the Cochin hen i got from Brian gave me an egg today too! Wondering I'd this is the week for eggs around here. I'm going to put some nesting boxes in the grow out pen, have a feeling some of the pullets will be laying very soon!

I am so sorry that you lost one of them I will replace it as soon as I catch back up with you! They are 11 days old today. I took some pictures last night it was late so they are not the greatest but I actually get off work early today so hopefully I'll be able to get some better ones today in the Sun.
Aww! you don't have to do that! I wasn't complaining. Just letting you know. I saw your pics! Nice birds.

I just feel bad, its odd to lose a 10 day old. At least too me it is.

Hey Bucks!!!! Quick question this is my first year with Chickens. I have 6 EE hens at about 20 weeks when do you guys usually start to winterize your coop? I live in Lorain county closer to the lake.

and to the Ohio thread! I'm in sw ohio. We make sure there are no drafts and if it gets really cold we turn on the heat lamps over the roost. We also made water warmers out of cookie tins and light bulbs. We place a 12 x 12 tile on top of the tin and it works great! I think there are plans on another thread.

It was smaller than the rest. I don't know if that mattered or not. I didn't notice anything when I put them in the crate I placed them in. But I was in kind of a hurry as I had another commitment. Maybe it got hurt or trampled in transport. Its hard to tell. The others are doing great though!
