OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

just an update on our situation here, it looks like we are moving our farm to camp creek road near lucasville. things may change, but we found a little over 4 flat acres down there for sale and in our price range. now we are looking for a descent mobile home to set on it - before we make any solid plans.

That sounds like good news. It's always a relief to have a plan! Good luck.

That's great that you found something. Sucks moving but as everyone else said at least you know it will be yours. One of my neighbors talked to my other newborns and were trying to buy their property. Then they basically said they would run us off of our land. We have told him many times he would have to offer us enough money to make it worth our time but apparently he would rather try and take it instead.

Update on my hatch 3 silkies are out. Two of them are black and one cute little chocolate. So adorable. Only 4 eggs left and none of them have done anything yet.

Mlaff cant wait for the pics! I have always toyed with getting some black silkies - so cute
Cluckitail- congrats on the Orloff egg! Columbus huh ????? we will be close
Love uorbirds - not sure of your situation - but trust i hate moving so have complete sympathy when moving especially when you have to move animals!!

Two were green. I know which chicks came from those eggs. the guys two roosters that uses for bringing are not throwing green egg genes he says he's only got a couple hens that are doing that

Or are the two darker looking chicks on the left without dots pullets? This will drive me nuts until I get use to them.

There are some rhodebar lines that have gotten a bit scrambled, and both egg coloring and autosexing have gotten a bit wonky as a result. Pure rhodebars are brown egg layers -- the supposed "rare" green egg laying rhodebars aren't a special rare variety -- they're a line that some other blood has gotten into along the way (my personal bet is cream legbar). The sexing should be unmistakable at hatch, although those are some darn pretty chicks and will be fun to have! I would suggest, for breeding purposes, marking or banding the ones that are unmistakable (good, strong chipmunk coloring and distinct white dot on head) now while you know which ones they are

and using only those for breeding stock when they're grown, and just enjoying the rest :) I'm curious to see what they'll grow into, too -- they're sure cute!

Yeah, I'm running away for a day in the big city, lol! :p

And yep, second that on moving animals -- I really hope it all comes together for you loveourbirds!!

Also, minihorse and blessedchick, in the interests of furthering my education, if I have room and can bring a couple of my silkies to Delaware, would you be willing to go over them with me and point out flaws? (They have them!) I love silkies, but I'm really, really inexperienced with them -- heck, I can't even reliably tell hens from roos until one's laying and the other's crowing, lol! I'd love to learn more about what to look for and what makes a truly outstanding silkie :)
