OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

One of my new faverolle gals gave me a pretty pink egg today. :weee Instead of laying in the nice cozy nestbox, though, she plunked it down right in a poo pile. -_- Tried to get it as clean as I could without washing it.
I'm tempted to crack 'er open to check for fertility, but it seems so wrong. (I'll get used to it eventually.) I think I'll save up a few days worth and pop them in the bator. :fl I needed more eggs to toss in anyways since 3 of 9 in the styrobator are hatched! 2 BBS AM bantams and the black silkie (so cute! Vaulted skull!). Still no action in the cornish and showgirls. Candled and saw no movement at all. :( Hopefuly the low temps just delayed them a bit..

Don't you just love out when you bring home a new bird and they just plop the egg any old place?

Coming home with 3 gorgeous silkies and a pair of icelandics to join my lonely pullet. Thanks chickawawa!

You are so welcome! Had a great time talking to you and getting to know everyone today! Hanging out with our new Basque and Rhodebar chicks from Cluckitall! Yay!

I went to the swap today, near the end. I guess I haven't been close to a chicken before because I didn't realize how big some of them get! Wow! My friend has silkies and they are tiny, in comparison.

She gave away a black silkie rooster today. Did anyone here get it?

My husband would prefer to have rabbits :-/ Maybe we will end up with both!

PS - we were the people wearing our babies.

LOL! I know who you baby wearers are! Too funny!

I had such a good time at the swap...and I managed to come home with less birds than I went with...my goal! Mostly 'cuz I don't think that I ever left my table...so many awesome, fun chicken people to talk to! And it was great to finally put the names with the faces (but I will never remember anyone, so please be patient with me)

Many thanks to all of you that made the first annual Delaware Swap a success! We will go for bigger and better next year!
