I went to Chillicothe yesterday and today. No one was set up yesterday. It was packed today. Traffic backed up 2 miles; took us 2 hours to crawl that 2 miles. Not fun. The fairgrounds are nice, and it has it's advantages over Lucasville, but I still prefer here. I'll be going down here next weekend, too.
If anyone was looking for anything specific, I can let you know if I saw it or not, although we were in a huge hurry and didn't make it around the entire place.
I was specifically looking for showgirls (was really hoping to find the showgirl folks from last April..didn't) and cheapish guinea hens. Ended up bringing home a pair of beautiful white doves, a couple runner ducklings, and this little darling (Embden gosling..I think..my first goose!)

Anyone have tips to covering raised beds? I will be transplanting some tomatoes from the basement under lights to outside soon. Right now the birds are scratching up worms and kicking dirt all over. Last year the veggie plants were so big they didn't do too much damage to them picking at leaves. Toward the end of the season they would hangout under the canopy of the leaves. Also I want to start a asparagus patch but am afraid they would scratch up the bare roots.

Any tips/advice is appreciated.

Welcome!! Only about 50 miles west of you! You could nail stock fencing to the raised beds and plant your plants in each square. 3x3 or 4x4 square. I thing it is called stock fence, the kind they use to keep livestock. Anyway, it would keep them from getting in to scratch. Pretty eggs!!

Josh built it actually. I helped but he did most of the work. I am downsizing. I've been raising the chicks in the house and they have officially drove me nuts. I'm only keeping my chocolate orps and my ccl and Swedish flowers and my porcelain d'uccle. I'm keeping the call ducks, anconas and my old trio of pekins. I might keep my black and blue swedish. I'll need someplace to keep the babies from them!

I will admit, I would have changed a few things. We built it from the top down, I would build the next one from the bottom up. The paint would go on before I attached the wire. I still need to finish painting this one too. I would have bought the air framing nailer before we started cause once we bought it everything went so fast! Didn't have to hammer anymore nails.

Without the cost of the air nailer it was just under $150 to buy materials. You could build it cheaper but since it was going to be outside for a little while until the new barn is done. I bought some better materials to build it which of course cost more.

The bottom is wire for raising waterfowl, figured it would help reduce the chance of them rotting a wooden flor out since they like to play with the water so much.
