OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

I live in Bexley, which is a suburb of Columbus. I just got my first chickens - Lola the australorp, GiGi the golden-laced wyanadotte, Simone the dominique and little FiFi the bantam cochin frizzle. I should probably post pictures....

Welcome to you both!!! Soon you will be as addicted to this site as the rest of us - awesome people and info on here.

Hi,

I'm new to BYC and to raising chicks! I'm in Ravenna (east of Akron) and I am raising 4 buff orps that I picked up from Meyer Hatchery in Polk OH.

I'm so glad to see so many Ohioans on this site! Is anyone else in the Kent/Ravenna area?

Welcome!!! I have buff orps from Meyer too! I have 11 girls and 1 boy and they are 11 weeks old (thought they were only 9 weeks but I just counted...DOH!)

Good luck with your chicks and enjoy the site!!

Hello,

I know this might belong on the chick raising board but since we're all in Ohio I thought it best to ask you. I have got four 2week old Buff Orps and am wondering when I can move them to a coop outside. I've heard 6-8 wks but I'm wondering if that is still OK since that will be the end of Sept. at the earliest and I'm in Ravenna(east of Akron) and it can get cold here some nights. The sooner I can get them out of the storage closet off my kitchen the better. ( I love my chicks but not so much in my house-- they're getting so big!) Thanks for listening!

Noelle

P.S. Is there ever a get together of the northeast Ohio chicken folk? Just wondering.
