ohhhhhhh the Ohio National is this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!! For some reason i was thinking it was next weekend. Glad i checked here today!!!! Cant wait! How many of us are going? anyone know if they are going to have a BYC booth this year to check in at?

I am looking for a silkie or two as well! I will be there in a maroon ball cap with "LE" on it (the one in my avatar) and I will be with my 7 year old son who has long blonde hair....little surfer guy...we are both pretty shy when it comes to meeting new people, so please say hi if you see us. .hope to see everyone there!

I bet about half of us from Ohio will be there and we wont know any of each other. We will pass by and never know it! I will be the dumbfounded blond middle aged woman walking around taking photos of all the birds with this silly grin on my face and trying to hold my hands back from getting more birds. I am sure my DH will put a padlock on my purse as well so I cant get to my wallet.

Not sure if your feather-footed fancy search has been satisfied yet, or if you were only looking for chicks--if so, disregard...

If you're still looking though I might be able to help...my dd has decided to focus on our big girls so we will be selling our 'fun' girls. We have four hens, all between 15-18 months old.

Three Mille Fleur D'Uccles and one gorgeous porcelain/blue Silkie who just finished her first moult, looks lovely and then just went broody 2 days ago.

They have all come from show breeders if that matters to you--my daughter took one of the Millies to the fair in September, won her bantam hen class and then won overall reserve for all bantam categories...the SIlkie came from Brody's Broodello in Maryland, bought her last year at the Natl Poultry Show (third Silkie I've bought from her).

This is "Guac" (We had two, Guac and Moley...guacamole....following a trip to Chipotle right after we bought them. Moley lost her life to a raccoon last summer)

It seems I don't have enough posts. I want the buyer to be local, to be able to come see them and pick them up or to be able to deliver them myself. I've posted on craig's, asked friends and family to put the word out. No responses yet, next step is flyers @ TSC and an ad in the paper.

I REALLY hate having to get rid of them. I just got 10 eggs from 9 hens in the last 24 hours.

Sorry I missed you guys. Got to talking to folks inside and it was past 1:00 when I checked my phone. Saw some folks checking out silkies, but didn't notice the hat. There were a couple of us with American Buckeye Club shirts on, so if you didn't come up and introduce yourself, I can understand why. Met a lot of nice folks there and saw some nice chickens (and a couple interesting looking turkeys as well).

Wish I could have gone to the show... I'm only 30mi east of C-bus too!..

I have a question for you seasoned chicken keepers... I got my chicks almost 3 weeks ago. I am raising three breeds together... 5 Partridge Rocks, 3 Black Australorps, & 2 Easter Eggers. My BA & EE are huge compared to the Rocks. The the EE & BA look like little chickens... they have nice sized wings and tails now and are getting feathers on their breast now too. The Rocks are still tiny. Only two of them have tail feathers at all... they just look about 1/2 the size of the others. I'm guessing they are just a bit slower growing? Any one have any advice or input on this?

Also, when the girls get bigger and fully feathered I had figured we would move them to the coop for the winter figuring they are supposed to be winter hardy. This is going to work out, right?
