Ohio Issue 2

I voted last week,as did my dh through the absentee voting. I see nothing wrong with people paying into healthcare and retirement.WHAT is the big deal in that?????My dh does.We are a family of 4 living off of one low income. His charges for health, tax, retirement was so high last week he had to take vacation pay to cover it!

I see nothing wrong with merit based raises. No one should get a raise if they do poorly. I remember that news report of teachers in NY that hung out at a buidling all day watching tv,playing pool, and bsing. They were not allowed to teach, but union rules made it so they could not be fired. So tax payers payed for them to lounge all day.BS on that, but I bet is is still going on!

We will see tonight what people decide.Nothing we can do if people want to cushion those whose income comes from OUR income.Just wish we could opt out!

In our area it seems most have been swayed by the unions and have the vote no signs up. I have only seen one vote yes. It is sad how the unions use scare tactics to make people believe something that has nothing to do with it. They did the same thing the last contract vote we had. Our pay raises that they negotiated stunk and so did the everything else, they don't try to get sick pay for us and we can only miss 10 days a year without pay, If you are truly sick and you have a doctors slip you still get pointed for each day, the company says its in the contract, that is what I pay 550$ a year for, oh I forgot to mention every time we get a raise, so do they. Not to mention they scare people so bad that they can't see that other non-union plants associated with us make on the average of 2 - 3$ more on the hour, but we need them, they have been robbing and lying to everyone long enough.
VOTE YES ON ISSUE 2 TODAY

Unions need to come in line with the rest of the workers or face similar cuts at the hands of the people. Public sector is the worst. The benefits and pay should reflect the private sector not what the legislature says. A hand shovel operator should not pull the same bennies as a teacher.

Probably will pass... too many sheeople.

Voted today and voted YES on 2!! I live outside of Youngstown, and am honestly afraid to put a Yes on 2 yard sign out... but I made sure to vote.

Come on Ohioans do the right thing VOTE YES

I voted =Got my Sticker and the Grandaughter her Candy Bar-- Voted NO on Issue 2 - My husband is a Road Department Employee who has not had a contract openned in 4 .5 years - No raise - They knew there was no money for raises - Many Unions in Ohio have taken this route so now to add cost seems like double dipping --- I also know the crew of the Ambulance that will be cut ---It varies county to County and local but adding cost to people who took nothing for this long when all costs have gone up just doesn't seem logical or fair Think They will give us retro Raises ? --

On Tuesday night, Kasich acknowledged the defeat with humility, pledging to take the will of the state's voters into account. "It's clear that the people have spoken. My view is when people speak in a campaign like this, in a referendum, you have to listen," he said.

"The repeal of SB5 is a monumental victory for working families not only in Ohio, but all across the country," said Michael Sargeant, executive director of Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee. The lesson, according to Sargeant? "There is a price to pay for right-wing extremism and partisan overreach."

DH always belonged to a union but we never liked union tactics. The union poured dues into political candidates that we voted against. The union bosses seemed to spend a lot of dues unwisely. For me, the minuses outweigh the pluses in our modern work life. I do believe unions were a necessity in older times but eventually the worker became caught between two crooks, the company and the union. IMHO, just saying....
