Ok how close is too close? Rooster behavioralists?

I see a ciggie butt, maybe he isn't mean ...maybe he's just out of smokes?

Here he is tied out I keep giving him one last chance out of deference to my wife. I won't be carving him up either for the same reason.

We both agree this is his last chance a day of tie out and me coming by whenever I feel and either petting him or just being nice in general when he is so vulnerable. I'm tired of his sassy attitude and hit and run tactics. I am the only member of the household this thing attacks, but in 2 weeks it will be shorts not jean season any longer and I don't feel it is worth loosing blood with this jerk.

I really tried the ignoring him part but todays strike to the back of the legs was all I got in return. I did relent and take him off the tie-out. I really hope the D@mb%ss realizes the power a human holds over it.

I suspect he is a bit of a dullard and will remember the lesson for all of 12 hours actually I know he will. I will be hit from behind one more time, who knows I might score a field goal kicking him this next round, or I might tie him up again and craigslist.

Heheh I didn't realize that was in the shot. Yes we had a little chat earlier I was the smoker good eye! You just reminded me to go clean that up before my wife gets on me too about it! Thanks.

Ok, nobody clutch your pearls too hard at this suggestion and it isn't reccomend long term at all. But you could try giving him a little beer and having the "talk" with him. Despite the feeling, beer actually lowers testosterone and he might accept your presence a little bit better if he's got a little less rooster gas in his tank. And for goodness sake, give him a coffin nail you know beer isn't the same without it.

Well the time came for us for to let the roos all go. I wasn't really looking forward to processing them myself. All three turned into confrontational wing droppers, and one was a sneak attack from behinder. Craigslisted them and found a taker within two hours last night.

The guy had been an experienced rooster keeper and has facilities for 20, but none currently. I did give him a run down on the breed showed him the multiple spurs, a bit of their importation history and cautioned him they have a seasonal breeding and no real fighting value outside of their springtime mating season.

You might ask why I mentioned the fighting aspect... Well look on a map where I live then ask yourself honestly why this guy only raised roosters. Sure I made an assumption but doubt I am too far off the mark. Also, I was following some advice I had received via the forums and was not going to ask questions as I didn't care if they were intended for someones table. Those longtails were certainly some awesome eye candy for the yard and we miss those chatty-cathies too!

I expect I am going to buy a SQ replacement that has been bred for temperment as well, but not today. I'm just glad I got rid of those unpredictable stinkers before they can attack an innocent third party. The hens are really enjoying not being harassed as much as they were, well all except Bobbette, she was missing her Bobbie as she wouldn't leave him all alone in the dog crate this morning. I think Bobbette was trying to hatch a plan to spring him.

Ohhhhh, so you are just barely a US citizen. Glad you got rid of them quickly and didn't have to do the processing yourself.
