This is all new to me as I have 6 bantams of various breeds and let me just say....wow! do these hens have HUGE feet! OMG they are like ostrich feet. I just want to get them to a more manageable weight that will allow them to do chicken things outside...like scratch and walk and maybe fly a few feet across the yard like my bantams do.
They are really sweet birds. One is a bigger and bit of a diva, so I named her Aretha. One is smaller than the other 2 and her name is Mildred and the one that perched on my leg while I was drying her...I want to name her something that truly defines her. I am thinking Fiona. Its a sweet name and so is she!
Oh, for the meatie owners.....will these girls roost or will they be floor dwellers? My bantams all roost at night and the coop is 4x8. Covered in a nice layer of straw and shavings...nice and warm. Will they be ok to sleep on the floor at night or will they want to roost? I'm thinking a low roost, if anything. My bantams are like 5 feet up in the coop. This would be much too high for my new girls.
Oh, they are just so cute! You should see them sleeping in their little pen. One is on a towel. I put it in there so that they'd have a soft place to sleep. The other 2 are nestled in together on a pile of straw...and I have a space heater on low to help them stay warmer as they have like half the feathers they should have at this point.
