Of course a few spilt cat food kibbles that missed the dustpan wouldn't last long, I'd leave em for the dog to search and destroy!
I keep all of the food in plastic pet food keepers, with hinged lids, so spilling them is ALMOST impossible. I've had cats claw open the side of a bag because their feeder wasn't filled early enough in the morning to suit them. Solved that problem with the plastic
