From a certain male perspective.

First, I'd store animal food outside so it would not draw mice and roaches in the house, but I know I'm weird. And, if I transfer feed from one container or bag to another, I do it in a place that a spill is not a big deal. Something will clean it up and it won't be me.

However, more to your question, if I make a mess I clean it up. If she makes a mess, I get out of the way. When I spill something in the kitchen, depending what it is, I sweep it up. Yes, I know where the broom and dust pan are. I may vacuum it up, using my wet-dry shop vac instead of her household vacuum. I will not mop it up as my wife got rid of the old basic cotton mop and has about three different special kinds of mops and I find that none of them are good for actually mopping. Instead, we keep pieces of old tee shirts which can go into the laundry for cleaning up messes, instead of using paper towels. I try to do a pretty decent job of cleaning up my own messes, but I'd also realize that nothing I do will meet her cleanliness standards, unless of course she does not know I made the mess to start with. Then she will never notice.

Of course I would then be the one cleaning when the dog up chucks 25lbs of cat crunchies in the living room (sigh)

heh, these are some pretty varied responses.. My hubby would clean it up..or call one of the kids to do it lol. It's always "their cat" when it does something like that.. and the kids are pretty good about it too.

Oh no, they exist. They're rare and most coveted but you know how if you're the girl with curly hair you long for the nice, flat, straight hair while the rest of us sigh over your curls? If you're the one with the smaller bra size you hope and dream and exercise trying to get that C or D while those of us with the Cs and Ds would do anything to wake up one morning perky little Bs? Yeah, these husbands are like that. They SEEM wondrous until you spend a whole day trying to cook while your kitchen is systematically re-organized to operate more efficiently even though HE never actually operates in the kitchen. Don't leave him home alone with nothing to do or you'll find your living room and part of your bedroom re-arranged. Wait, is that the husband cleaning out the dishwasher? Now all your utensils and dishes will be where they SHOULD be not where they have been for years. You didn't actually need a bandaid did you? Oh, because NOW they're a part of some huge medical dispensary that contains ALL the medical supplies and they've been carefully organized alphabetically (which in itself is weird if you have a medical background) because there's absolutely NO need to have bandaids in every room of the house when you have eight kids some of which are incredibly injury prone.
LOL! Actually I adore this man and my life but some of this stuff can be so infuriating .....but we say nothing because the wonderfully planned and built chicken houses, the fencing jobs, the handmade, amazing greenhouse, the endless composting and gardening... all those things keep our mouths shut.

If anyone in my house made a mess like spilling an entire bag of cat food, they would be handed the tools to do the job. But, everyone knows that, so they clean up when they make that kind of mess. The kids are still learning, and the dh would never dream of spilling something and leaving it for someone else to clean up. It is so inconsiderate it wouldn't even occur to him. But he would also do "the put is somewhere that makes complete sense to him, and no one else can find it" thing.
