***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Also, just a reminder-I'm getting 2 of ArtsyRobins NN babies. I'm in Guthrie and she's in Muskogee & I'm still hoping against hope that someone might possibly be able to help with transport. Just a thought to keep in mind. Otherwise I'll just run to Muskogee and pick those babies up myself Saturday :))
(Did I even spell Muskogee right??)

The peahens can stay fertile for a few weeks after the tail drops, my hen hasn't had any fertile eggs in a month. She is still laying some though. I doubt any peahen eggs will be fertile unless the male just dropped his tail recently. Next season I am sure we will get the chances to hatch more than enough peachicks! I did put the one egg in the incubator we picked up @ your place last week. Candles it, but not sure if it is fertile or not. I will give it a few more days to be sure.

Can't believe Macy isnt scared to do anything. I can't even get my oldest girl to out her own worm on her hook! She wouldnt even help dh wrap his finger the other day. Way to gross she says!

i love these stories! so is she with others in her coop? or is she on her own?

She lives in the "bachlorette" (sp) pen w/ the others, but she comes and goes out of her run when ever she wants she is the only one to learn how to get out and back in her run. I really should clip her wing, but she has never even attempted getting over the fence that would hurt her (in w/ the dogs)

she sounds like my Dot, a free spirit.... she hangs out near the banty run alot and tells me all about her day

Evening all. Getting ready to tie up after getting caught up on all the posts. Thought I'd share this with you. Night before last the temperature dropped so fast here in NE OKC that one of our young chicks literally went into shock. She died yesterday morning. So tonight we put the heat lamp out in the little ones' pen. Just checked them a few minutes ago and they were all huddled up together in the hottest part of the light. Bless their little hearts!

Have a good night everyone.

The new little Seramas I got at the auction on Saturday spent their first afternoon outside today. They were in the big cage, in a shady spot of the yard while I puttered around. They really seemed to enjoy it. The little hen laid her first egg since bringing her home. It's so cute and tiny! The other birds sure checked them out. The white Polish roo (that I thought was a hen until recently) did his dance for them all around the cage most of the afternoon, and poked his beak through the wire - I guess to get a closer look, or sniff them... not sure with that roo. He's a riot though. Poor guy. Until his new soon-to-be girlfriends get out of isolation, he's doing his best to woo anything or anyone who comes into the yard.

This morning I went dumpster diving for pallets and made a great find. Two 4x4 pallets with plywood already attached. So I got those two attached together for what will be the floor of the new coop I'm attempting to make. It seemed like I was busy as a bee all day, but now it seems like I hardly got anything done at all. Wish I knew how that happened.

She is doing great getting used to me slowly she was kinda skittish for a while I backed up to the pen I built for them and as soon as I got the door open she jumped clear out of the truck and ran into the pen LOL I guess she don't like riding so much, The goats are doing great also as well as the hens I got already getting eggs from them, What great weather we had I got a lot done outside I hope this stays around for a while but still need to rain here I watched the radar and all that came across the state over the weekend missed me again didn't get a drop, I'm off to work sure didn't miss that over the holiday LOL Hope everyone has a great day/week

Morning folks, just a little nip in the air this morning. Won't be long and we will be scraping frost off of the windshield.
Hope everyone has a super day.

It would depend on the gene makeup of the Naked Neck. It might be worth a try.
I started a red Cuckoo NN project this year and I only have one offspring that is showing any red in the barring.
As for as NN and non NN, it does usually run about 50/50.
