***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I acquired a pair of serama and am worried about the hen. She seems lethargic and has not laid an egg in a week. I got these as chicks from Atwoods, an they have been lots of fun. They free range during the day if we are home then come to the house to be let inside the houe to their cage in the evening. So I have a pair of house chickens.

Sounds like you have trained your chickens well.

How old are they? Could your hen be egg bound?

Give her a warming light....whether she is egg bound or sick, warmth is good. If she is eggbound it might relax her enough to pass the egg. Also up her calcium...maybe a few egg shells. I didn't know that serama had been available at Atwoods yet...are you sure that they're serama?

Great looking birds June-Bug! I got tickled at the little hen behind that first gorgeous silver. She looks like she is reading the ad he is standing on!lol

Sharon B ,you may have Japanese bantams, they look somewhat like the serama. I don't think Attwoods would carry anything as rare and expensive as Seramas. Of course I could be wrong,I have been before. Once!lol (just kidding, been wrong many times!lol)

Beautiful fall day here. Heavy frost last night but stuff survived. Been cutting down a few flower stalks and tudying up. Still no sign of the missing roo so I guess he is history.

My mottled bantam hen hatched three phoniex bantams. Guess I will have wither babys afterall.

Hi Doodle-doo Behind every great man (or rooster) there is a woman telling him what to do. All my chickens read the newspaper. She's telling him to move over, that might be a good sale and she doesn't want to miss it!

I thought a out that, but I can't feel aything, but that was the only thing that makes sense. I thought about putting her in some warm water to see if that made a diference. Any other thoughts or suggestions?

I am not positive that they are serama's . They were in a straight run bantam tub. They are white with black tails. The hen has a slight collar similar to the delaware and the roo is white with a beautiful black tail l that touches his comb after it arches overhis back. I guess the could b Japanese black tails. If I can figure out how to take picture of them and post it I will.

i always bathe mine, give them a tummy massage and give them a tums in their drinking water, the tums gives them a calcium boost which helps them relax...
