***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Oh yeah!

Here is a post I found on craigslist for a new auction barn being built in the Harrah area that will opened after the first of the year. They mention having a poultry sale.

I agree it will get worse, we dont have animal control here. I live way way out in the country. The tom turkey was a pet my son who is 4 goes in and gather the eggs during season and anyone can pet the big tom. I will prolly never find one that friendly again.

the neighbor needs to make financial restitution- it was their responsibility and by law they are liable

She said she will pay for my turkeys but saying and doing is two different things. I am going to have faith that she will pay me the next time she is home.

BFrancis, thanks. These are the big pine flakes, not dusty or like sawdust.
It really sounds like some kind of aspiration pneumonia, that's exactly what it sounds like. He didn't seem sick this morning. I didn't notice he was acting different until around noon when I gave them some little chunks of pancakes and he didn't come running up to the front to grab them, just she did.
Can chickens aspirate fluids or stuff from their crops if they get choked up? He's been perfectly healthy and now he honestly sounds like he's dying.

Robin, his breathing is super rattled and congested sounding and he keeps coughing this high pitched cough every 5 min or so. It came on super fast.

do you have any vetrx? you can rub some on his comb, nares and under his wings, its like vapo rub for chickens

No, I don't have any of that. I think he must've aspirated something. From his crop, or water went down the wrong pipe or whatever. He's warm and in a crate on towels right now. I don't want to disturb him (but I'm listening to him every second) because that makes it harder for him to breathe. I've been reading about aspiration pneumonia and lots of time they just outright die pretty fast without the owner even knowing what went wrong. If he doesn't make it I'm going to just be heartbroken

I thought I could take it if one of my adults died but I lied! This isn't easier than losing a baby! (Edit: A baby chick).

do you have any vapo rub? you can use that also, it will help him breath better- there is no need to assume he is dying....give him what support you can
