When I lived in Indianapolis, I had a Cajun man work for me....he would do what you are talking about, when he went home for vacation... he would bring coolers of goodies back with him and we would feast...Cajun Style! Between you and Rex...my mouth is watering!

OKay so the mini rooster just did the cutest thing.
I let him out to run around while I fixing my lunch. While I was cleaning some of my dishes in the restroom, he starts making this really loud squauking sound, sounded like he was hurt or something. Of course I ran out to see what was wrong. There was nothing wrong, he found a small pebble and keeped picking it up, dropping it and squauking until I picked it. Then he quieted down and walked off. He was giving me a present. Isn't that so sweet????

Glad you all were posting about food.... now I don't feel so bad about bringing up the subject. A friend just brought a cooked domestic duck in the shop for us to try and I'm in love!! He purchased it cooked in OKC, but I don't remember where. Of course I decided I'm going to have to learn to do it myself, so I need to ask... what do you all know about cooking, raising duck??? I have a pic of the ducks head that I thought someone might be able to identify the breed from, but I can't figure out how to post it on here. Looks kinda like an Indian Runner head. OK... let the information begin...

They're probably a lot more scared of Macy than her dad. A gorgeous teenaged girl who's that good with a gun? I bet the teenaged boys will treat her with the utmost respect lol

It is most likely a Pekin, they are a larger duck very popular in the asian community. Very easy to raise just messy. If you allow the hens to sit them out they will raise them for you. allow them to wander your yard and you will have no sand-burs (goat heads), stickers what ever you want to call them.
dressing and cooking them, there are many ways, the method I have found that I like is deep fried.

The crock pots are all the 5 qt ones where you can lift the whole ceramic pot out. Does that kind breathe from the bottom? It's working so far but I'm a little hinky about it in really cold weather.
I've got the cookie tins already, got them at the thrift store last week-but what kind of bulb sockets? Where did you guys get them? If I can get them at WalMart that'd sure be a lot easier than having to drive clear into Edmond to Lowes. I saw the thread about them but I don't recall ever seeing those bulb thingies anywhere.

I use the 1 gallon plastics and they don't freeze for at least 3 days below freezing, with no heaters in use.
If you cannot find any of the Black Rubber tubs I have several here that I do not use..

Mine all froze overnight inside of a building, not even sitting outside. Are your tubs the 1 gal size? If so I'll give you a couple dollars each for them if you'd like to sell them.

He was feeding you! Isn't that just adorable??? lol I feel so bad for my Silkie boys. There's 4 of them living together with no girls. They make the "I found food!" noise and try to feed each other all the time
