***OKIES in the BYC III ***

hey sooner, you have power?...now thats a silly question- our power is off, using the cell to check other folks-

one of the silkie eggs is starting to hatch....

Thought I'd post my drawing for the hen house expansion...hope this shows up. I'm getting excited. I have d'Anver eggs coming in the spring that Carl will hatch...so we have time to get this all done.

The new section will be on the left. We have an inside water faucet just to the right of the henhouse door.
The two stacks are cages. set on frames. My BIL and hubby will do the welding. And I can make the cages.
Separate pens will be added in each side for brooding out babies.
The center wall will be a half-wall with chicken wire to the ceiling.
The big door on the left will be just for access in and out when I need to move around cages. It will be a solid door.
We have all new electric wire in the barn and they put loads of plugin. So there won't be too much more electrical that needs to be done.
All pens will have access to the outside and in the outside run, temporary dividers will be used to section that for the pens. Made of Pvc and Chicken wire they will be light enough to hang on the south fence and swing to the barn wall.
The barn wall to the south is light passage PCV ....it is light grey but allows light to pass thru it. the old hen house has a plate glass window that came out of our den (a garage conversion)

We used to have a Temporary pen made from PVC and chicken wire that was 6 feet tall by 12 foot square...used it for 5 years before the boys welded up the long run for me. We used those furniture PVC connectors for the corners. Cost me about $200 to make..it had sliding doors and a hinged human door. I'll see if I can find a picture.

NanaKat~ That looks like a very cool design! Been doing more reading on the Belgium d'Anvers...DW and I have talked and we are going to be expanding into different colors too...can't wait.

On a side note...when I first heard the name, "Belgium d'Anver" it made me think of Belgium Waffles....so when DW and I are talking about our different birds, who is doing what, who laid eggs, etc, we just refer to our quad as "The Waffles"

here is a pic of ours coming to greet us...or the food bowl anyway:

I wish I had that much inside room to work with! Looks great to me!

The Waffles remind me of some kids song group thing my DD use to listen to when she was really little! LOL!

My DS, 3.5 yo, watches the Australian group for kids "the wiggles" on Nik jr. I'll never be able to look at my "waffles" again without laughing! Do you think I could talk Poco into making different colored t-shirts for the four?
