Thought I'd post my drawing for the hen house expansion...hope this shows up. I'm getting excited. I have d'Anver eggs coming in the spring that Carl will hatch...so we have time to get this all done.
The new section will be on the left. We have an inside water faucet just to the right of the henhouse door.
The two stacks are cages. set on frames. My BIL and hubby will do the welding. And I can make the cages.
Separate pens will be added in each side for brooding out babies.
The center wall will be a half-wall with chicken wire to the ceiling.
The big door on the left will be just for access in and out when I need to move around cages. It will be a solid door.
We have all new electric wire in the barn and they put loads of plugin. So there won't be too much more electrical that needs to be done.
All pens will have access to the outside and in the outside run, temporary dividers will be used to section that for the pens. Made of Pvc and Chicken wire they will be light enough to hang on the south fence and swing to the barn wall.
The barn wall to the south is light passage PCV ....it is light grey but allows light to pass thru it. the old hen house has a plate glass window that came out of our den (a garage conversion)
We used to have a Temporary pen made from PVC and chicken wire that was 6 feet tall by 12 foot square...used it for 5 years before the boys welded up the long run for me. We used those furniture PVC connectors for the corners. Cost me about $200 to make..it had sliding doors and a hinged human door. I'll see if I can find a picture.
