***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Yes she will be ready. I will start on the new pens & they will travel along the west fence. They will be for trio's & quads. The one that will be shown will be in the building & then returned to the pens. I wish I could draw the pen how I see it in my head.

Cool, If I can get enough Birchen OE on the ground for myself as well, there may be a Trio to spare of that too.

My big Goals for this year are to start putting This color:

On this Bird:

wow that will be cool.

Once I have my exact deminsions I will let you know. Right now it is all in my head & I have a few things to consider or decide on before it's solid.

Within the Next 5 years I will have all my OE colors duplicated in Rosecomb. Some are already available and will be here this year, others I have to make. The good part is they are all already recognized colors just can't be found anymore. This will add some color to the Rosecomb Shows and I am willing to bet that will drive interest in the breed. These birds are so easy to handle, even better tempered than my OE, which seems like a real accomplishment for teh guys that have breeding these birds.

Just Let me know, I can whip out a drwaing pretty quick. That is something I actually enjoy doing.

PoCo how come you get out so early-before daylight- to care for your birds? I thought you were retired or worked from home.

Retired? Ummmm. I'm working from home, but I never considered myself retired. I'm practicing for when my does are in milk. I want to have my flock fed and watered before I take the goats into the milking parlor. That means up before dawn, otherwise I'm going to have some cranky goats. I figured I'd milk at 8:00 and 8:00, which puts me in the barn after breakfast and before bedtime. Any other milkers out there have a schedule that works for them they want to share?

Lund Poultry,
they show very heavily in favoroles, and do quite well.. they also sell hatching eggs when they are past thier show breedings. $25 a dozen + $13 shipping. Check them out... I have this great big incubator (actually 2) that will hold 1800 eggs each. You see this way you are not "buying" roosters you just end up with some.
here is a prime example.
I love teh Birchen Color the contrast of the brilliant Silver (not white) on the Black.
Birchen and Brown red are identical in all aspects but one, color of hackle, saddle, and wing bow.
I have never found a Birchen I was satisfied with, so worked on Brown red to get them where I liked them, then aquired a decent but well colored Birchen Male.
mated him to a few of my Brown red hens.
And Got some Nice Birchen Pullets:
They're beautiful, you possess a mindset that I lack in being able to keep the end result in mind when you attempt a new color. I get muddled up and attached to an individual animal and end up caring more about the individual than the big picture. I accepted my limitations long ago

. The world needs us both though.

I have Brooders, and can get them to an age where you can pick through them... I know you will have a local market for teh extras.... Did that help solve the problem?

RiR Rooster problem solved. Within a matter of hours I had more RIR offers than I knew what to do with. I ended up getting one from john and I plan to get another from a guy near duncan and that should do me for RiR rooster. Next pay check I see about getting a Cochin Roo.
