***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Nice coop!
not holding much hope for my chicken eggs, ending day 23 today and they didn't move at all last night. I think you're right Ksane, this bater flucuates too much, way more than my other LG. I think I'm going to follow your lead, sell both of these and get a brinsea
I'm so sorry. I did get my 4 big Cochin girls out of that incubator and they're my most favorite animals. I never measured humidity and only used it twice so I figured humidity was my problem.

aw, wish the far right wasn't a cockerel :( bummer
Ah! I need to learn to leave things alone. I decided since I didn't have any pips I would candle again and see if any air cells had been punctured. Candled one and there was movement! Yeah! They're not dead. Problem is I decided to move them back into formation (w/o changing their orientation so they didn't lose their positioning) I moved one and the stupid bird pipped the wrong end! Not only the wrong end, but it was facing down so I didn't know! Ah! So I probably shrink wrapped him. I had a spray bottle handy and sprayed the spot, he hasn't broken totally through, but pushed the shell off, the membrane looks still intact, so hopefully I didn't kill him. At any rate he's pipping at the small end so he's probably gonna die anyway from what I've read about it. Next time I think I will lock down based on candling not on dates. That's probably why he's pipping the wrong end cause he's been on one side for nearly 5 days. D'oh. Anyone here have them pip the wrong end and be okay?
Mine did! Pipped at the wrong end so I opened up a tiny chip so she could breathe. I didn't help the other 2 soon enough and they died in the shell. But this one I kept peeling away tiny bits of the shell and stopping for 30 min when I saw a blood vessel to let it dry up. I ended up peeling her entire shell away and from there on she's done great, 5 wks old now. I wet a paper towel with hot water and wrapped the egg in it (make sure their beak can get air) and set her back in the incubator between helping her.
If you get a Brinsea use the promo code " ADozenGirlz " and you get 10% off. Don't get cheap like I did and get a smaller one, go for the Eco 20 for $130. I set 11 eggs in mine but only 4 of the Bantam Modern eggs are fertile for sure. I was kinda relieved though since I'm still raising 2 batches of babies. I want Modern Bantam babies really bad so I'll be thrilled if these guys hatch.

Robin, if I wasn't in the same boat as you with too many males I'd snatch up one of those Serama babies. That's why I'm leery of hatching. I'm so scared of getting males that I've passed on lots of breeds I wanted to hatch.

The Belgian Bearded d'Anvers eggs from Georgia are here!!!

Gonna have some little d'Anvers running around here in about three weeks
BB Red, Buff Columbian, Ginger, Millie Fleur, Porcelain and of course Black so LilGuy will have a lady or two.

Sooner I had signed up for fruit tray-- planned on doing a watermelon & a strawberry tray like last yr. - I see someone else put they wanted to bring lots of fruit. Would you prefer I bring chips or something else. I can get the individual multi pack of chips from samsclub. That would go over better & be easier to grab & go than large bags of chips.

i know, seems like i predominitely hatch boys...:( he is so darn pretty too...

got a home for the serama trio

oceanseve- are you looking for some hens??

lol I'm aways looking

I technically have no chickens laying right now, so by chicken math standards I need more. I am looking for green egg layers at the moment, but not looking too hard since I am overrun with nonchicken chickens.

I'm not having humidity problems with it, but the temp is fluctuating too much due to the temp drop we're not running the a/c or heat at all. go figure tho the other LG is holding just fine, but that one tends to run high instead of low, I don't get it! Thanks for posting that advice, I didn't even finish reading your post, I dropped my laptop and went to pull some of the membrane back, poor thing started gasping and making noises at me like "Thank you! I can breath at last!" I'll have to sell these two first. I might try one more time in the summer when the temps outside shouldn't be so crazy and maybe I'll have better luck. That is IF these guys actually hatch.

It will be up to you in the end but I am fine with leaving it as is for now & seeing what the others sign up for then changing if need be. What is best for you?

Sooner,
I can bring Potato Salad too. I made my Mom's recipe last POOPS and got a lot of complements (Mom gets the credit)
- It was the one that with celery seed and a little bit of tang in the dressing, (vinegar). The dressing is cooked and that is a bit of extra trouble but it is so good I don't mind.

Ya'll were talking about trees a few pages ago and thought this might interest anyone in the Tulsa Area.

Kass, I'm drooling for some coffee custard. Thnks for the receipe. I might have to dial it down a bit. How much does that make? A Gallon?
