***OKIES in the BYC III ***

nnbreeder,
I want layers. I have two blue cochins that just like to go broody and I want eggs! One of my hens have now a 2 day old chick and 3 buff orpington that I bought on craiglist but they are quite the size (and I think they are boys) compare to the cochin chick. My other hen is supposed to hatch today/tomorrow but I have candled the eggs and found nothing. Since the two hens share the same coop I want baby chicks less than a week so that they dont peak the tiny chick.
And if I can get picky, I am looking around Tulsa/Broken Arrow so that I can pick them up.

Okay...since you twisted my arm.....

This is what Ninya and Charlotte looked like when we inherited them...malnurished, still in down at 8 weeks...should have been fully feathered and Ninya the white one had a slipping tendon and was pigeon-toed. They were born Easter and had been in a crate inside a little boys room.....

And this is what they look like now...fully feathered, and triple in size. Ninya responded well to undergoing a splint and hobble to correct her legs. Charlotte had to wear a bandage to correct an Angel wing issue and that has improved as well. These girls have loads of personality! Charlotte is the brown and you can see her angel wing in this photo before the bandage and in the next you can see the improvement.

Playing in their new pool. The water is now deeper an they can actually swim.

Happy and pretty birds!

PM bfrancis, he is up in your area and has as he says, birds and lots of them. His birds are high quality and he is probably still hatching a few.

If this works it should take you to his profile and if he doesn't have something that is right for you chances are he knows where to get them.

Hi Applejack. Welcome! I am new here two. I am in Broken Arrow.

Does anyone know in Tulsa where I can buy baby chicks? I am refreshing craiglist every 5 min.
You might call Lee's feed store on 11th and see if they have any. I got my Polish there. They had quite a few varieties but this was a couple months ago. I like them better than going somewhere like Atwoods, they were knoweldgable.

Also, this is a tiny little place, they aren't a big chain like Atwoods. I don't recall exactly where they are at but I got off by the Hard Rock Casino, so I'd say around 11th and 193rd.

Been a pretty good day! went to auction and only came home with one chick tonight. Not sure what it is. Gunmama gave it to my daughter who has named it honey. Got to meet and visit with mj and hubby. Was great to put faces with names. Got the black berry parade and fest tomorrow. Then a bit of family time in the eve. Sure do love my flock... Hope all has a wonderful weekend. Oh got to make my first batch of fruit leathers. peach and raspberry ill let you know how they set up.

what breed of chicken best describes you? if you thought of yourself as type of chicken. lol
I would one that is a good broody hen. I love to SIT (but don't get to do it enough!) and am cautious but will let the kiddos explore. And I love to beat up on roosters :)

I can't wait to see what they all turn out to be. Honey is a very good name for that lil chickie!

Nana those birds don't look the same. Amazing how much they changed!

Cathie we try to allow our fancy guineas access to seperate areas, but unless the alternate are is heavily grown up the birds tear up the ground quicker than it can grow back. We try to give the goats 2 pens also, same result. They can eat 6 months worth of brush in 1 wk. Movable cattle pannel pens work well for us. The langshans are in their own pen & we move it every 3 days.

Scored a new tiller on Craigslist. Hooked it to the tractor tonight in hopes of working the ground for a fall corn plot. Also getting ready to plant fall purple hull peas. So excited we may cool off enough for seeds to have a chance to germinate!

Scored a nice very young ee rooster today! Not the color I was going for 100% but stunning black with irredestant colors all over. Now to wait and see him with my five ee hens.
