***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Last year, we had Astrolorps and buff orphingtons.

Both were quite docile, and quiet. And they fared the heat very well, although we helped them by making sure they were in the shade and had frozen water bottle bottles to help cool them off during the day.

We also had a Golden Lace Wyandotte, she was beautiful, but she also was not as docile. She was very timid and rarely came within arms reach of us. However we did not get her as a chick but as a full grown hen, and she was not handled before we got her. So I believe that had a lot to do with her not being as docile.

From my experience... any breed will be good and docile if you get them as a chick and treat them with love (not smothering love) but treat them right when they are babies.

We are wanting just a few chicks for right now, till we get the hang of things. My daughter wants to do show but I have no clue what so ever on how to go at that. I told her maybe once everything is running a lil more smoothly then we can look into it. Right now I also only want hens. I'm not keen yet on roos but I'm sure I'll warm up. Since we all want hens that we can just pick up whenever an pet, basically lap chickens, they need to be docile breeds. I do have one concern though, which breeds are docile an can stand this okie heat? We are wanting meat chickens down the road but for right now I want to get my babies figured out. We will probably go to both Blanchard an Newcastle to see what's available. Hope to see ppl, I'm super excited bout having a new breed of animal to add to my babies list.

I did Jury Duty last week in Tulsa CO.....

You might be able to call the court clerk and ask her to reschedule your week, but there is not really a way to get out of it.

It was not horrible. A bit boring but not horrible.

Your artwork is beautiful!!

Take your sketch book along and do some artwork while you are in the Jury pool waiting room.

morning everyone- has anyone done jury duty? i got picked for muskogee county- any experiences i'd love to hear, not too enthusiastic about it, but doubt there is a way to get out of it

Just a word of caution...

Take a crochet hook you don't care about.

here in Tulsa they confiscated all the metal crochet hooks and knitting needles that other jurors tried to bring in. I had plastic knitting needles so mine were not. But they took all the metal ones.

They might not be as strict in Muskogee... but I just don't want you to loose a beloved hook.
