***OKIES in the BYC III ***

let me poke around, i know there are patterns- Poco made some for my girls, she my have the pattern too... they really are funny the first time you put them on, some ignore them, this girl went backwards a few times and went running in the bushes- she finally relaxed
I would love a pattern to make some for my hens too. I acquired 11 hens that had been left to fend for themselves after their owners moved to town. They are so thin right now, but till laying. A few of them have bare backs from one thing or another. How do they attach? Are they secure or can they get them off? Thanks!

I am looking for some laying hens near Mounds. I would prefer some ameracaunas or olive eggers. I also have some Rhodebar Roos who need homes. Anyone?

The sale in Tahlequah was fun. We had hot chocolate, great snacks, and a few shoppers. I sold all my pullets the minute I unloaded my truck. It was overcast all day. Maybe people thought it was going to rain. I was happy to sit and visit with friends. I have more boys headed to freezer camp, though. But that's okay. I still have a little space in my freezer.

Glad it went well, wish I had been able to go

i use the pattern artsyrobin posted before; here it is again in case you mist it https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/424354/free-chicken-apron-saddle-pattern

this is one of the ones i made.

they can get them off some times but crossing the straps like this helps it stay on a little better it made me nervous because i was cornered it would choke the chicken but they seemed ok with them crossed still not sure if i like them being crossed or not.

when i first got aparons it was someone here in byc, they snapped on, i like them that way even though they can lose them in the bushes, that way they can't get stuck, the ones i got from coral stay on better- and they don't snap on

one of my barred rock hens, Barbara, was bleeding from her vent, not gushing, but i bathed her and noticed she squeaks with each breath from her vent- weird- so i can watch her she is in a spare cage in the studio- i didn't feel any egg in there, did notice her tummy is bare of feathers and her comb is dark red- ideas?

Sounds like an airsac leak. Feel around I bet she is filling w/ air somewhere under her skin, between skin and flesh.
