Thank you that was awesome! I do wet inside if it's dry air but on really humid days I wet outside and only a tiny bit inside the coop. I too have a couple of burlap feed bags that I sprinkle down but they don't stay wet long. They sure do cool the air though, gotta figure out a way to get a wick method so they can draw water more. I need to get some plywood for extra shade I guess, have to rely on a neighbor to get big stuff for me and unload and put it up since I'm disabled. I do have areas of grass that are wet too so it'll stay green. Rest of yard is dry and burning up but the chicken's big fenced yard is still green due to all the watering stuff around there. The birds dust bathe outside after about 7 p.m. when all is in the shade and it's cooler. They can free range all day but won't go out of their cool shady protected pen until evening, then they take their baths. I feed the chilled melons and stuff in the covered pen so I don't have to deal with wasps/bees inside the chicken coop.
I open their coop to let them free range about 6:30 a.m. and they go out till about 11 a.m. then the sun gets up overhead and no shade then, so the rest of the day it's back to the muddy covered cool area until evening time.
