***OKIES in the BYC III ***

We got some rain, not sure how much though the rain gauge is not on the way to the car, so I didn't check on my way to work. If I were guessing though I'd say maybe a tenth or two.

My girls are doing well they are out every day foraging the way out of the yard, I have been sprouting grains for them for several weeks now which they love, and they get dubias 3-5 days a week. Several went through hard molts, but the worst of them are starting to look like chickens again.

Spunkychickenmomma - I sent you a PM.

Sooner - Merry Christmas! Glad to see you online. I'm not able to read much during the week. I'm being super lazy this morning over a second cup of coffee before I tackle Friday's papers.

Robin - Hope the roo is better. Did you find any information about giving Penicillin orally? Post if you find anything. I've only ever used the penicillin as an injectable.

Coffee's gone . .

Setting up breeding pens (on paper for now) for the spring breeding program. Looks like there will be 13 sets.... Gonna have to set up a tracking document and figure out a toe punch plan. And order some spiral leg bands....and get pens built...and the list goes on....
You are not the only one anticipating Spring hatching season.

I am new here, and new to chickens, so please bear with me. I love reading all of your post and hearing what each of you are planning and doing. It gives me so many ideas of what I want to do. As a brief background, My wife (of 40 years) and I ordered a Blue Silkie male, 2 females, and 1 White female day old baby chicks for next April. I have a small coop being built by my dad, and getting my fence repaired to keep varmits out. I love reading all your posts, and any advice you have is appreciated. Have a great day!

Well, to be completely honest, I also ordered a Welsummer male, 2 Welsummer female, and 2 EE females. All Bantam. All day old babies. Guess my dad's gonna have to make 2 coops instead of one. LOL! I'm already addictided and havent even gotten any chicks yet. Plus, I don't know why I got all bantams. Just wanted them I guess. :)
