***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Well no auction for me again this week! I gotta go to my wife's work big annual fund raiser which means I gotta put a necktie on. Well at least we get fed and it is at the Cowboy Hall of Fame so if I get bored I can go talk to the Duke!

Lots of rain here today. I found my missing hen. She's gone broody, and her nest is on top of the hay bales in the barn. I need to get up there tomorrow with a candling light to see if they are growing. I need to move the nest down to a manageable height, so on second thought I'll bring the eggs down and candle them where I won't break my neck. Momma nearly knocked me off the bales when she saw I'd discovered her hiding place. I didn't think to look up there. Tommy, our major tom cat, our primary tom cat: Tommy, anyway, Tommy sleeps up there. I didn't know he was cohabiting with a hen.

Had a nice visit with CayuseRanch - Amy and her husband Randy when they came for Cochin eggs for the BYC Easter hatch along. Fortunately it had not started raining yet. We got to show them the breeding pens and all the baby chicks.

Because of the rains coming in our granddaughter's soccer game was cancelled. Shortly after we got a downpour with 1/2 inch in about 30 minutes.

We have spent the evening enjoying the rain and just chilling with the dogs huddled in my lap and watching NCIS.

Thanks Nanakat for the eggs and tour today. We really did luck out on that rain, it came down in buckets 20 min after I left your place. You have a wonderful home / farm. I had to listen to my hubby all the way home discuss his "I wanna be a farmer" dreams that of course included the dozer lol. I just tooned him out and dreamed of your fluffy white cochins, the big black cochin, Samson, cochins, cochins, cochins....Wish I could spring the clock forward 21 days so I could see these eggs hatch out...oh wait thats right I will get some of your cochins from Jarvis soon...Shweeww...that will make it easier.

Anyway, Thanks again for opening up your coops/farm and wonderful garden to my family. When you finish planting yours feel free to come play in mine.

Cochins! Did I hear somebody say Cochins? LF I hope.

Blanchard sale was packed, people were even parking on the rd. We just got home & they had not even started selling grown bird yet. Prices were pretty high. The kids would have stayed a few more hours, but I was exhausted. Was good to see all the BYCers that I haven't seen in a long time. We plan on being at Newcastle next wk, maybe then we will be able to enjoy the whole sale.

No Blanchard sale April 27th.

Sorry to hear of the loss of Yeta ,Kassandra. I've been in that place this year with my duck so I know its sad.

Enjoying our baby turkeys. They've discovered they can fly and the little boys are already showing off their stuff. Its always comical to watch the little cupcake sized boys strutting around like they are the king of the world.

Baby ducks are getting big and are feathered out on their tummies now. And they love to swim. Can't wait to get them into their new pen.

Rabbits had babies two days ago. We're not sure who they belong to since we think both females were pregnant and both are taking care of the nest. Both pulled fur, both carried straw around, etc... wondering if there are some from both in the one nest. There are seven altogether and so far they seem to be getting fed alright.

I couldn't do that. Sounds to much like I'm planning to eat her/him. You know, as in *Fryer*.
