***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Lynn - Happy to hear your wife is okay. Lots of folks asked about you at POOPS. We need to have another chicken meetup soon so we can visit.

School is nearly out for the year. My seniors are off to bacalaureat practice tomorrow, so I"m covering classes for the senior advisor. I think I'll have about fifty or so kids, mostly for Spanish 1. I've looked at their assignment: naming animals and describing work around a farm. I'm already more excited about the assignment than the students are.

Lots of wet, muddy pens today. My brooder babies are the only group that didn't get to stomp in puddles.

Lynn awesome news on your wife!

I think goats & chickens make great companions. Goats hate food that is dropped on the ground, but the chickens are there to scratch for any crumbs.

Today I looked down speckled Sussex eggs (some under a hen others in the hatcher). So far have had 7 call ducks hatch!!!! They were shipped eggs so I am thrilled! Also had my last doe of the season kid. A buckling & an adorable doe. Momma goat has always been wild & crazy, so she is on the short list. Of course she is a great momma, but that brings our goat total to 17.

I will have to get some pics this weekend.

wazine at a feed store- ivermectin pour-on for cattle, use it like frontline a few drops on the skin usually between the feathers-

i solved the mystery with my cochin- worms... in isolation i could check her droppings- ewww yuk! so she and her buddy, a cochin she was raised with are in the spare room getting wormed- she is actually drinking on her own too- i used safeguard, should i switch it out with wazine?

Just keep a close eye on her and make sure that she is eliminatring on a regular basis. If she doesn't or acts bound-up mix some Molasses 50/50 with water and use a crop tube to get it in her, but don't stand behind her, that is a powerfull laxitive!!

For those that have never used a paste type wormer you give them a drop about the size of a Pea. Usually on a small piece of bread folded over.
