and the little buff i got from you is broody!

Is anyone that is going to shawnee have wynadotte, brahma or cochin eggs? I'd love a few for my broody- and they could tuck them in with O'brian who Rhinda is transporting for me....OHHHH PLEEEEZE!!! Pm me so i can tell that silly broody they are coming

Leah lost this little chick to a predator and has been crazy ever since, so maybe since she's broody, it will do her good

Girls? I would have thought boys because of all of the comb showing and the direction of the head poof.

I also have heard from several people that older males will produce a larger percentage of female offspring, and have found that to be true in my own experience. I haven't done a scientific experiment, though. A lot of the breeders I know will only use a rooster one or two years, and they seem to always get a predominance of males. I get attached to my birds and usually don't replace the males unless I get a much better one or the older one gets injured or sick--or particularly mean.

I have a Brown Red OE male that is 9 come spring, I hatch females from him heavily I think all of the last breeding season I hatched 2 males and over 100 females. But I breed for females in that pen anyway. All of my truly planned male matings are young males

Do you eat any of your birds? Might seem like a strange question.
I know some bantam Cochin breeders eat their culls and say they are quite tasty. Male Cochins are about 2 lb. and females average 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 lbs before processing but your bantams are smaller than that. (I can't bring myself to eat my own birds but if someone else would want to I think I could be ok with that.)

There are large numbers that go on the grill, most of the poorly colored bad comb structure toe, toe nail color etc. They still have a good body but considerable flaws that no one needs to add to a flock they get eaten, the decent but late or early birds often go to a sale.

I didn't know if anyone on here was interested, but I have a trio (possibly quad) of Ginger Red Modern Game bantams. Please let me know if you're interested and I can arrange a meet-up. Otherwise these will be in the sales area! Also have some blue Langshan pullets that I need to part with, possibly a blue trio of Langshans. I can't quite decide yet.

Oooooh, I've been very interested in the Langshans and the blues are so beautiful! Can you PM me the details if you're seriously considering letting them go?
