Blackbriars, I have not tx for worms. I have not seen any issues w/ excess worm loads, all animals including humans have intestinal parasites the problem comes when there is an overload. IMO if there is an overload in a few of the flock, those individuals have other problems allowing their systems to be over run, they should be culled from the flock, if the whole flock has an overload there is something wrong w/ my husbandry and I need to modify what I'm doing. I keep wanting to add a little Basic H to the water a couple of times a year, but haven't yet. It acts in the intestines to remove some of the surfactant on the parasites body exposing them to intestinal environment killing them. This method means the parasites cannot develop tolerance and make "super parasites" resistant to all the constant worming I see going on.
This is my opinion and the way I chose to raise my birds, there are others on this site and thread that do it other ways, I am not opposed to anyone raising their birds their way. I have said from the beginning and will continue to say, he who pays for the food gets to decide how the chickens will be raised.
