I see that you are looking for eggs or chicks. Will this be your initial introduction to poultry or do you already have some birds?

Disclaimer: This group excels in assisting others in the location of just about any kind of poultry. Therefore, you may receive lots of help in locating birds once you ask. How many birds do you have housing for at this time? Some of us prefer to acquire now and figure out housing tomorrow.

I know of a man that has Dottes and Astrolorp chicks in the Tulsa/Inola area.

Here's an odd coincidence: I added a photo to my Craig's List ad for the lost goat and saw that a goat wandered onto a farm in Foyil, OK, yesterday. I e-mailed the person in Foyil to see if that goat resembles the goat visiting us. If it does, then maybe there is a distraught goat farmer out there trying to find homes for his/her herd. My heart tells me this is somebodies pet, though. I will make some flyers tomorrow if I don't get any queries on the Craig's List ad.

Ok lets try this. You get splash from breeding andalusian blue to andalusian blue, or andalusian blue to a splash. First understand there isnt an actual blue bird, Blue is black that has been diluted with 1 copy of a dilution gene. Splash is black that has been diluted with 2 copies of dilution. You only get a splash by breeding two birds together that both cary dilution gene, as in blue on blue. Here is a breeder chart for blue. If I wasnt real clear on this, I am sure carl can explain it easier.

Blue x Blue = Black, Blue and Splash
Black x Blue = Black and Blue
Black x Splash = Blue
Blue x Splash = Blue and Splash

Cloudy and cool out this morn. A little north breeze. Outstanding morning. Just got done with the state vet, been bleeding chickens this morning for my NPIP cert. All good, sending paper work off today, will be one less thing to worry about.

Could very well be someone who could t afford to feed their animals anymore.

It looks like we should get another cutting off our pasture, but all hay is spoken for, I didn't keep much for us this yr since I only use hay for the birds. Maybe next spring I will let DD get a few young goats. just have to make sure I save enough hay for our own use. Think I saw 100 small square bales will feed2 goats. I have the guy bale my portion in small square bales so I can handle them on my own. Don't know what I would do with a giant round bale of hay!

On the "found" goat...call the local vets to see who in your area has goats. Let them know one has been found. Our vet has a "lost and found" board as well as a "for Sale" board.

Spent almost all day yesterday in the heat of the barn working on my portable coops...was exhausted last night so fell asleep early....ya'll were sure talkative last night.

Went with hubby to vet today to take in four keeper angus heifers and two angus bulls for their shots.

Neighbor gave us a great dog pen 6 x 10 and 6 feet tall....will make a great chicken pen. I have shade cloths stored up in the barn from when Atwoods put them on sale earlier this year. This pen will be much better for the wyandottes with their new coop. Thinking about setting it up inside the dog pen so there will be plenty of room...and protection....will see what you think Carl when we trim the birds for breeding later this month.

Carl....any LF you need housed somewhere can always come live with me.....
