wow! Those first 10 bales were totally expensive and the rest weren't much better!
We were discussing the logistics of how you would sell round bales at an auction. I guess the seller brings a few bales to show the size and quality and then the buyers pick the rest up from their farm?

Here's the Cochin hens I got from Carl & Stephanie, they're so pretty! Jackie (Firefly) was going to take one of them but she took pity on me when I said I'd really loooove to have both of them

So thanks, Jackie! My husband went out and got them their very own fan

because they're in their own 6' x 12' wooden fence right now. I'm really thankful I got 2 because like someone said-now they have the company of another chicken they know in a strange place. They got baths but they were really good in the bathtub. I'm one of those weird people that has to bathe every animal I bring home

Also-the 2nd picture is my 6 wk old Cochin baby-there's 2 with combs this 'big', the other 5 babies have way smaller combs. Carl (or anyone) can you tell at this age yet if this one's a male? I got a black Cochin from Carl 10 days ago who was 6 wks and he said she was a pullet. So I'm hoping someone can perhaps tell if this is a boy or a girl Cochin comb.
Also, I got masonry sand for FREE from the asphalt company, as much as I can haul off. I'm going back for more next week. It's got a bit of gravel and stones in it but I figured that'd be good for them for grit. And when you wet the stuff it cools the whole area down a LOT and doesn't turn into mushy mud. They just love it!

That may be a young male Mitzi.. You should know for certian by 6-7 weeks the males will be developing noticable wattles.
The two hens are quite used to baths and should always behave in the water.. I have a 60 gallon "bucket" we use to bath and dip the birds every 45 days sometimes more frequently.. It will likely take them another day to finish fluffing back up but thats the big round fluffy bird. I am glad you are enjoying them.

I'm still here! All tho its a far piece from my Okla. farm!

Sooner yes I am sure we will proably make a trip sometime this fall. If you don't mind holding the polish I would appreciate it.

Went to the Elkton,Ky sale today. Got another pair of EE bantams. The roo is almost solid white,I haven't seen solid white one ever I don't think. He is really gorgeous and should throw some color back into my flock. I now have two of the prettiset roos I have ever had in EE abntam. And the little he(she is kind of light columbian color) layed a blue egg on the way home!
Also bought 7 serama chicks, already feathered out for 75 cents each! For some reason the people at that sale have not figured out the rarity or valvue of seramas! Their loss!lol

Its hot here,I am still wore out from working the yard sale yesterday. Ready to sit back and watch my chooks and enjoy the day!

No wonder they were so good in the bathtub! If that chick's a male then it looks like I've probably got 2 males out of the 8 Cochin chicks I hatched. That'd be wonderful. This one and a super dark one, almost black. That'd put me at 2 males and 9 females total. I'm hoping to get enough girls for each boy so the whole group can live together peacefully.
Thanks

I'm here, too. Still fighting critter attacks, but they've only gotten one of my birds--my best black showgirl pullet--recently. 7 raccoons and 2 opossums so far.

We're very tired of it. They've gotten 22 or 23 birds now. Some of my best silkies. I'm one who used to always "rescue" animals of any kind. It goes against the grain to dispose of them, but it's necessary under these circumstances. have moved all the birds we can to a bit more substantial quarters and beefed up what are left in the older compound. But, I guess it is very difficult to keep a determined raccoon out of most structures except solid barns and such. I'm still recovering from my knee replacement, so am not up to snuff for building and reinforcing, but doing the best I can.

Thanks Cuban. I was guessing they would show somewhere! Just need to figure out what category & how many opportunities she would have to show. Also how much driving I would be doing to get to shows!!

How is the pup doing? Did he come home or stay at the vet for treatment? My sister & some of my rental tenants both had dogs make it through parvo. We were not as lucky with parvo.

Didn't see guineas in the standard.

Puppy is still with us. She seems improved, hoping she really is getting more hydrated. She still refuses food. I bought some formula to try. It's sort of like powdered pet milk but formulated as more of a supplement & has feeding instructions for stressed or ill pets.
