Congradulations to Lil-sooner, a great job at yet another show..
We all have our off days on keeping track of things, I often get sidetracked talking and loose track of everything, and forget to take pics.
She needed another Big Cochin...

We found a more cost effective method of building show conditioning pens / bantam trio breeder pens for indoor use if you or anyone is interested. made a 9 hole pen for the boys for less than $100. That will really free up some space and make it even easier to get and keep the birds in good condition. Have to finish the last 3 doors today but that is pretty easy.

I'm still goatless. The last time I spoke with the breeder she said she was sure that the oldest doe, Galen, was ready. The other two were iffy, so she wanted to keep them a bit longer. I hope they are all bred before the weather becomes unbearable. The breeder lives in an area that's beautiful, but it's hilly and the roads are narrow and twisty. I don't relish the thought of picking them up when we have ice or snow on the ground. I can pull a trailer safely, but if the roads are bad I'll be pulling mine slower than most folks want to drive. I do my best to use pull outs if I'm backing up traffic of more than four or five vehicles, but it makes the drive longer and more uncomfortable for the goats. I'm calling the breeder today, after church, so maybe I'll get some good news about Milagra and Naomi.

I have a garden experiment going on right now, before it got really cold I took a tomato and a pepper plant out of the garden and potted each and put them in an east facing window, which also faces the street, I have a couple of flourescent grow lights on them. I'm trying to see if I can get peppers and tomatoes to harvest through the winter. Well the other night I forgot to turn the lights out just past dusk, so the plants and lights were clearly visible from the street. This slightly intoxicated individual happened to be driving by, when he came to a sudden stop in front of the house and just stared for a few moments then he came rushing up to the house to tell us to be "careful" b/c our "plants" could clearly be seen from the road!!!! lol lol lol

Now that's the funniest thing I've heard all day. It's good to know our drunk drivers are looking out for the other law breaking citizens.

You do realize someone is going to sneak in under the cover of darkness to harvest some of your "cash crop" now that the word is out, don't you?

Congrats to our prize winning youngsters!!! Love the pic. Would be cool to see more, I never grow tired of see young people involved in something worthwhile.
Way to go kiddos!

I will tell her when she gets home, she is off being spoiled by her grandparents.

When I no longer have kids at home, my spare room will be for keeping my soap! Right now that keeps me from making too much. Sure would be nice to make large batches & not have to do it so often.

I hope everyone gets to feeling better! It seems to be going around here too, several were gone from church this morning with it.
