Dang! I know my turkey's can jump to the top of the 6' picket without using their wings, they have to be in a covered pen. It's the landing that's hard on them.
I sorta' roost-cheated in the Brazilian's pen. I put the little OE Bantam in a 2' tall dog crate inside his pen since the other little OE's are still in quarantine & I can't put her with them yet. He hopped right up on it and raised his long neck up and was watching everything. So that worked good and it's a nice flat area for him.

I hope you like your new bird they are one of a kind mine are verry freindly and I have even had them in the house for days and my 2 1/2 year old would cach and hold them and they never seamed to mind I hope yours is just as nice
He's just wonderful, I love him to pieces. Very seldom do I feel so strongly about an entire breed like this. I love my individual birds but (aside from my LF Cochins) I'm not hooked on the breeds themselves. These games I am. The more I read the more fascinated I am with them. They're not a breed that you can put on auto pilot but I'm reasonably certain they'll be worth the extra effort they require. I know they're not lovey and huggy, he's never going to
want to sit on my lap and eat cookies with me, that's what my big Cochins are for
But he's surprisingly docile and easy to handle one on one. I'll just accept him the way he is and work around his natural tendencies. Cuz he's worth it!
(And now I'll shut up about my way cool new bird lol)
