DGD is working hard on her science project. She's got a control pen and a test pen of Light and Coronation Sussex hens, and each pen has a rooster. They've got identification bands of different colors, and each has been weighed. Close-up photographs of wing, hackle, and tail feathers were taken for each bird. Eggs from both pens will be weighed and measured. So far we have two eggs, one from each pen: slackers.

An eight-pound rooster managed to pop the ring off the dishcloth that was holding him to the scale, so we've added a wire loop and a safety pin to secure the dish towel.
