***OKIES in the BYC III ***

can someone tell me when and where the Blanchard sell is? Not sure we can make today but would like to if we can. I need to add some female guinees and want to find a few pullets and roosters asap.

thanks,
Cathie

Blanchard sale is @5 - in the ag building. Sorry, don't have the address, or directions-- I am on my phone.

Cowboy we do eggs for $3 dz -- or I will do 2/$5. People that get eggs from us want our eggs since they know DD raises them & the chickens get to run around in the pasture. At Walmart free range eggs are about $3.50. I know I was paying $1/$1.25 a dz for farm fresh eggs 5 or 6 years ago so $3 does sound high-- but not if I start doing math of what we have in expenses.

Good Morning Okies!
What have you got planned for today?

I have new vitamins for the water trays today.
I'm going out to sterilize baby feeders and make sure there is plenty of wood shvings in the tank for the new babies arriving this weekend. Then I'll sit in a chair with a cup of coffee in hand by the tank and watch them..

..love watching babies. They are so cute when they fall asleep standing up and their little heads slowly drop to the ground. Better than TV.

Hi Cathie!

The auction starts @ 5:00 and is at the ag building on County Line Road. Which is just south of Blanchard and the road to turn to the east of is an arena.

Hope this helps and look forward to see you there. A lot of BYCers will be wearing POOPS shirts.

nanaKat,
can we postpone the pick-up for tomorrow? I just got out of bed, i think my body was playing catch-up on sleep. I now need to run devon's truck in for tires and alignment and get some material to my nephew in Chickasha so it will be a busy day for me..

I have a Guinea question. Before the tornado hit I had a Guinea that would kinda just whistle while walking around. Is this a specific breed or a hen or rooster. Would like to get another one like it. It was my pen alarm and sure do miss it.
The females make a 2-syllable screaming noise and the males make the 1-syllable screeches. I happen to like the males better also. I've got 5 and just posted yesterday looking for someone to take 3 of them. I've got 1 caught and will get the others caught ASAP. They're definite flock birds though so I'm considering trying to get ahold of all 5 and giving all 5 away. They're SUPER noisy (mainly the girls), would you want 5 of something that noisy? They're awesome at midnight alarms but too noisy for me with all the roosters I've already got here.

And when they get a drink of water and throw their little heads back staggering backwards off balance

One of the reasons I'm so undecided on taking the broody Cochin girls eggs away-I so love babies.

Greetings Okies! I have been gone but I'm back now. I've been staying up late and getting up early to process the 20 pounds of frozen apricots my parents gave me. I also had 15 pounds of apples to do. Because the apricots were frozen, I made fruit leather out of them all. The last batch is in the dehydrator now. I also peeled, cored, sliced and dried the apples.

DBF Jack has been working on the house next door to me since September and he is finally about ready to move in. He has done most of the work himself and has turned the scary murder druggie roach-infested house into a nice, clean and cozy place. Sigh...I'll miss the sound of screaming, cursing, gunshots, squealing tires and police sirens in the night...but I'll get lots more sleep.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Thanks Bill!

Hey - is anyone going to be hatching guineas this year? My folks want some but have had horrible luck trying to hatch them so I want to gift them with some keets this spring...
