I second that, Michael is really a good guy and has more resources in getting whatever you're looking for

Cathie-- a BIG plus to the new BYC if you to the message section. Begin creating a new message. As you type Michaels name in the to field his name will pop up (since he uses his real name as his screen name). I am sure Michael can find anything you want, some how all things poultry related find him. We went out to his place once & DD would have stayed all day. She was in awe at all the varieties.

If needed I can maintain a have & want list. Shouldn't be too hard right??? I do understand people not thrilled if there isn't a lot of stuff to pick from & they are wanting to buy new stock. I also understand those that are looking for something & want to guarantee to find it. Plus those traveling distance will want to make sure their is interest in the items they are bringing, so they don't have to carry it all back home.
I don't remember a list like that last year but, there was one for donated items for the raffle I had made prior plans for a few things I bought rats from Teva and Les and gave Roy a small bunny, and bought some from Maribeth. I will probably have scissors again just no where near as many as last year LOL not sure what else I might have to bring along but will come up with something now that I kinda know what it's all about I was clueless last time, I'm looking forward to it,

I just saw earlier that May 5Th Pink Floyd will be doing The Wall in Tulsa, I am really thinking about going would mean I might have to leave POOPS earlier than I had planned, Of course that depends on whether or not I can afford the tickets LOL It would be cool to see though...

People here can't say enough good things about Michael and for good reason. He was so kind to me when I 1st joined this board last July. I've gotten quite a few birds from him and every time I see him my respect for him goes up a notch. There's too few kind, gentle & honest people left in the world, he's one in a million.

this is one of the reasons I am so glad we found this board!!! We are realively new to chickens (july 2011) and I think I have been taken a time or two. But since I am new to all this I didn't know what to look for and learned the hard way. I will call him asap. I have a woman coming to buy some of my chicks that I over bought on. I will miss the two big boxes of chirping but I am sure I can get buy with only one box of babies, lol. I just love the little fuzzy guys. Is there a good way to sorta sex chicks at this age (less than a week old)? I don't want to give her all roosters, lol.

My practice on that was simple, if they thought they could sex them let them pick and try... I have heard and tried several methods and found I always had a 50/50 shot of being right. fether sexing and vent sexing works for teh first 24-48 hours on hatchery stock then its all a shooting match till they crow or lay eggs.

My 3 Royal Palm Turkeys are 7 months old now, they're so big! (2 girls, 1 boy-I really lucked out). Their feeder holds 25 lbs and just ran out today, which happens to be exactly 2 wks since I filled it. I've been keeping track so I know how much food I'm actually going through. If anyone ever wanted to know how much a trio of 1/2 grown turkeys eat....it's about 4.3 lbs average a week each. These guys are still super sweet and gentle, such cool birds and so gorgeous.

The hatch that I have going now (started hatching saturday ) have been very cute, full wellsummer babies, welsummer looking babies with poofey looking head and beards. The cross pullets that just started laying started laying sooner than the welsummer or easter eggers have in the past.
The little boy that lives down from us ( he is 5 ) likes to feed the chickens when they come over to get eggs, he always wants to take one home, he is such a cute little boy, anyway I have become an enbler. Yesterday I sent him and his dad home with 12 fuzzy butts, a portable brooder and chick feed so that he can have his own chikens, he was so excited, he told me now you can come to my house and get eggs and feed chickens.

That is priceless!

Here is what Yeta and I have been up to today.

Some of the free loot I've been gathering for the coop.

The beginings of the pallet floor. Blocks, bricks and pallets all free. ( just work to get them)

Supervisory agent Yeta, she thought the floor wasn't high enough so you can see in this pic I raised it a little,

Yeta telling me about a board I missed.

Yeta making sure the floor doesn't bounce.

And inspecting the tools

And here she is making sure I have enough supplies to finish the job.

She is such an awesome chicken, got her beak in everything I do in the back yard.

I just love Yeta! There is always one in every flock!

awe, that is so sweet! That is kind of how we started. DH went to help a single mom we know with her water well. He came home with her promising to send us 10 chicks as soon as we could get set up for them as payment. He didn't expect payment but she wouldn't accept a "no" lol. Now look at us we have 49 chickens outside and now 46 babies in the house brooding lol

Yes, chickens "grow" on you. I found a coop building book the other day that I bought a year and a half ago. I had to laugh when I saw the plan for the little coop and pen that I first planned for 5 or 6 chickens!
